Title: Ecu issue/flash
Post by: 04monsterduc on March 12, 2015, 07:06:16 PM
So the ecu on my 04 monster 1000s just went out. Does anyone know where I can send it to be reflashed and the immobilizer removed?

Not sure what happened, but when i go start the bike, nothing happens. When the key is off (and out), my right turn signals Continue to flash. With the key on, everything but the stater works. My local dealer, told me that it is my ecu.

Your directional staying on is probably dash related.  You might try opening it and looking for moisture.  Others have had this issue, try searching this board.  No start could be a lot of things.  Immobilizer light doing anything?  Did you try the other key?  Using the code on your card?  Antenna in place and properly connected?

If your computer is bad a flash is not the fix.  Either way, a flash to get rid of the immobilizer is not a bad idea.  IMO, this feature mostly prevents the rightful owner to start the bike.  You can also use whatever dash you want after that.  Maybe a DP map too?   First you need to know the ECU works.

The immobilzer light is solid yellow. I didn't really ride it that much last year. I'll try taking the dash apart. I've done some research, and a lot of it points to dash/ecu. I'm hoping not to have to spend $500 to fix it

Did you connect the battery up backwards? That's known to kill the starter contractor driver on the ECU. It can be worked around.

if the immo light is on it won't go.  how many times does it flash before it stays on?

Does anyone know where I can get my computer flashed? I really want to get my bike going this year.

I know Forum sponsor Motowheels does this. Im unsure about the others offering a reflash service.
