Title: Where to get belt rollers?
Post by: memper on March 13, 2015, 09:04:58 AM
Its getting warm enough in nyc so its time to dust off, change fluids and do maintenance checks. Upon inspecting my belt roller(fixed) and tensioner bearings they seem to spin ok with my thumb but they have patches of rust on them.
Should I just run them if they spin ok and the rust will be worn off by belt movement or should I replace?
If replacing, where can I purchase them?

*edit: it seems I can get the tensioner bearings here: https://www.motionindustries.com/productDetail.jsp?sku=02137990 (https://www.motionindustries.com/productDetail.jsp?sku=02137990)

But where for the fixed roller bearing? Part number?

If they spin smoothly just run them. The rust will polish off.

First off that is way too much $$$ to pay for sealed bearings...

Top of the line Nachi:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/6201-2NSE-RS-2RS-Nachi-6201RS-12mm-Bore-ID-Sealed-Ball-Bearing-Made-in-Japan-/130377107572?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5b14c874 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/6201-2NSE-RS-2RS-Nachi-6201RS-12mm-Bore-ID-Sealed-Ball-Bearing-Made-in-Japan-/130377107572?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5b14c874)

Good 'enuff:

Or if you must have the SKF:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Qt-1-SKF-6201-2RS-SKF-Brand-rubber-seals-bearing-6201-rs-ball-bearings-6201-rs-/131327223580?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e93b6671c (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Qt-1-SKF-6201-2RS-SKF-Brand-rubber-seals-bearing-6201-rs-ball-bearings-6201-rs-/131327223580?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e93b6671c)

Fixed bearings are # 037029350...pricey at $56.74 EACH...and I'm convinced an alternative is here somewhere:

Grab your micrometer, take some measurements, and be a pioneer for the rest of us...I was going to do it but my builder needed em stat and I didn't wanna dick him around.

I checked McMaster. The longest roller they have in metric Permasealed is 14mm. But mine spin ok so the belt movement will likely clean them up.

Cool. I do think it may be beneficial to change the other (cheap) bearings, especially if they are getting up there. If one seizes up it'll wear your belts prematurely. And new rollers look aesthetically pleasing...my Nachis are a trick red color.
