I'm about to change the belts on my 07 s2r 800, and I'm looking at 2 places on how to, and they specify w different millimeters for play.
one says 5mm for both vertical and horizontal, and other says its 6mm for vertical
this link here suggests 6mm

and this video suggests 5mm for both

any idea which is right, or if they are both wrong, or if perhaps it doesn't make any difference.
Before having the tool to measure frequency, I did my belts to the 5mm spec . . never had an issue and this measure even measured closest to the Hz spec used by the factory
thank you sir
I doubt 1mm would make a difference
The idea of 1mm more on the vertical cylinder is that the vertical runs hotter, therefore expands more. Some follow the theory, some don't. I'm in the don't camp.
Or you could rent one of the tools and know that it's right where it needs to be

swapped them over with 5mm clearance. runs beautifully.
thanks for the reply guys
