Title: Help!!! Getting the stock exhaust off....
Post by: Crazy Canadian on July 14, 2008, 01:55:15 PM
I am trying to put my Arrows on with great anticipation.  First I tried to take the cans off from the udder back, but they are stuck on there pretty tight after removing the clamps.  I left them on and figured I would just take the bolts out and remove the whole thing in one piece, but can't do that either.  All bolts seem to be out, but the exhaust is stuck together pretty damn good.  How the heck do you get it off??  I removed the right passenger peg assembly and tried to tsist that sucker off but can't.  Scared to break something since I need to reuse the parts that come out of the motor on both cylinders, at least from what I can tell.  Am I missing something?  I can't see any springs on this system like I'm supposed to use with the arrows.  No instructions came with the system. Help!!!   :'( :'( :'( :'( [bang] [bang] [bang] :'( :'( :'(

If I remember correctly, when I removed my stock system it required a good bit of twisting to remove the cans and pipes.  Once they were off, the hardest part was prying the old header seals out, so the new ones could go in.
The system doesn't have any hidden clamps or bolts.  Grab a buddy to help and twist the crap out of those cans!!!!!

Good Luck.

I finally got it.  I was originally given the wrong information from the supplier that every piece of the exhaust was removed from the bike and replaced.  That is ture on other bikes, but not the S2R800.  You need to loeave the short feeder pipes that drop from the motor on both cyylinders.  Actually, this makes install much easier because the bolts in the back are a B!tch to get at...

So, it's on!!!!  Taking for a test run now.  Man is is LOUD!!!  I never expected it to be THAT loud, and I heard other bikes with them last year.  Crazy.  We will definitely never forget the plugs or do without them on the highway.

Thanks to everyone.  I can't wait to wake the neighbors and turn heads in town tonight.
