It's a sickness.
Why do i keep checking Craigslist for another bike when i know that I can't afford to buy one and won't buy even if i find a good deal? Simply, the funds don't support it. But I continue to check CL as if I have the option to buy. It's ridiculous. [puke] [bang]
why do I keep checking eBay for clip ons when I already have a set of IMA's on the bike, a NOS set of Cycle Cats in the box, and 2 other NOS sets that I've bought and sold in the last year? Why do I have 3 brand new sprocket covers? why am I looking at a pair of billet swingarm end caps from Germany when I just spent the last 4 months finding the last NOS pair in existence that were the same color? why ask why? ;D
Part of me just enjoys looking around at what is there. We've got a local mechanic that could open a museum of oddball bikes. I love walking through his two warehouse-sized buildings stuff with motorcycles. He's got things like a Suzuki and Norton rotary, Water Buffalo, H1 & H2, and just gobs of 60s and 70s bikes.

Frankly, I think this is a good thing because:
1) you get familiar with what is out there and at what value. Whenever you do enter the market for a bike, you have a much better sense of things which makes you a better decision maker.
2) if you are the kind of person that has the space and extra $ to buy unnecessary bikes, it the perfect way to shop since you just wait for some unique opportunity and pull the trigger. Often, when I'm looking for something it is not always at the time that the ideal seller is selling, so I end up settling. But if I were always looking (but not needing), I know I'd find the best deals.
3) It's fun, free entertainment because we all love bikes.
ab... I'll sell you mine on a payment plan... that being one lump sum payment, the day you pick up the bike. ;D
I look once in a while, just to see what people are selling. I've been looking at trucks, too... with no ability to buy anything right now. Window shopping is (financially) free, but can be emotionally taxing.
I found a 1970 CB750 basket case on craigslist. Maybe some day I'll be able to ride it... or maybe just start it... or something lol. Just don't surf craigslist or ebay when you've been drinking adult beverages or you never know what you might end up with.

That's how my mom ended up with a Z3. First (and only) time she's ever bid on anything on ebay.

Same reason I keep looking at the Parts For Sale section when I don't need anything, nor do I have the spare cash to buy anything...
To the original OP ... I can relate. I dont know why but it feels like a drug addiction. I feel compelled to do it and I go into a zombie like state while doing it. Sometimes I get a rush when I see something I like in my area and sometimes afterwards I feel guilty. Oh man there oughta be a support group for this.
For that matter don't add Ambien to the list while shopping. :-X

Yup.... [thumbsup]
Yes a sickness....
I have cash in hand for another bike, but I don't ride mine enough! I have no room in my garage for another toy. I keep eyeballing two 1198SP's that are waiting for there new owner.
I'm looking on CL daily thou.. ;)
