So, I ordered a new flasher unit. Checked each signal light with a battery and wires--all four worked fine. Installed the new flasher unit and tried the signals and the 7.5 A fuse blew.
Installed a 15A in the 7.5 for flashers, tail light and idiot lights and all worked. Initially. Now the turn signals do not work again.
Anyone have any thoughts? Maybe there's a turn signal wire that leads up to the turn signal connections that is grounding? I don't understand why it would work with the 15A fuse and then stop.
Thanks for the help. It may be time to call in a professional.
Prolly fried something. There is a reason they tell you not to do that.
True.
Often using a fuse of a higher rating than called for equals disaster. That is an absolute no no! Most likely you have a short to ground.

Pretty common on bikes with tail chops.
If you felt inclined, you could chase down the short.
You'll go thru a box of 7.5amp fuses or you could put in a circuit breaker (http://www.cesco.com/b2c/product/Phoenix-0700007-Circuit-Breaker/318222) and then go thru the process of elimination...
Or you could bring it to a pro...
Good luck
