Title: TCX Blend Boots vs. Dr. Martens
Post by: The ModFather on May 21, 2015, 07:38:21 AM
I have a pair of Dainese track boots that I wear often enough for street riding. They're very protective and comfortable but sometimes I dont want to look like I'm wearing Iron Man Boots I just want to look casual but still have some safety. Typically I rock the Dr. Martens for this but wondering if the  TCX Blend Boots offer much more in terms of protection. Anyone try these? Comments?

No FHE with that TCX boots, but I found this article, about Dainese Anfibio Cafe Boots (similar to TCX Blend) and Corcoran Jump boots.

BTW, I used to wear Corcoran Jump boots with side zip when I was living in San Francisco (years and years ago), for daily commuting, running errands, etc. (Back then, the motorcycle was my only transportation, so I needed a pair of the boots, beside a pair of Alpinestars, that I can walk around, a lot.  There's no way I could use moto specific boots for that duty.)

One thing I should mention is that the side zip boots don't offer the same level of ankle support as the lace up jump boots.
To me, they did okay (and I never crush tested them), and I knew it's a compromise anyway. ( on-bike comfort and protection for walking comfort and durability, ease of put-on, take- off .)

I didn't care about the look.

The Dainese cafe boot was the other one I was considering. I guess the post shouldve read TCX Blend Boots vs Dainese Cafe Boots.

There are more and more moto specific boots on the market that are kind of dual purpose for walking, work, etc. They tend to be a short boot with reasonable protection, but without the shin protection. The level of ankle/heel/toe protection varies on the model and make as does if it is a shoe or short boot, 1/2 boot or 3/4 boot.
