Title: Dash electrical problem. M696 2010
Post by: fgawly on May 24, 2015, 06:50:00 AM
Hello all Ducatisti!! [beer]

Trying to fix a friend's M696 which drains the battery if not used for 3 straight days for example

Took it to the dealer who told me the dash and the keys and the ignition needs to be replaced because of the dash being the cause of the troubles.

They tried a new dash and the bike was perfect electrically.

+++I've an extra new dash from an M696 with no keys nor ignition.+++

A friend of mine told me I can use the old which got the codes to satisfy the immobilizer and the new dash to carry out the bike's needs.

Any help? Any suggestion to avoid paying $$$$$ to replace everything?

The extra dash was coded to another bike and it was replaced because of a broken LCD which I fixed by exchanging the screen from my old dash with his..

Thanks in-advanced   ;D

And get a second opinion on that diagnosis.  Diagnosis should start with load testing the battery after a full charge, checking the charging system, then measuring drain on the battery, should be less than 6 milliamps.  If the drain is excessive, then you need to isolate the circuit and finally the component.

Ducati dealers told me its the dash and they tried a new dash with a key and an ignition and the bike didn't lose its pulse! How can I flash the ECU knowing that I have access to the Ducati Diagnose System 2.0

DDS2.0 WONT flash your ECU....
It will programm new keys, reset PIN and other functions normal to diagnostics and it will UPLOAD the "RACE" UPMAP on newer motorcycles that have installed TERMIGNONI RACE KIT EXHAUST SYSTEM >>> this is by NO means a reflash; DDS2.O as well as DDS(1.0) can only TEMPORARILY DISABLE the IMMO . . .

You want to use another bike's IGN and DASH, the IMMO is IN the dash from there the signal is sent to ECU that "ALL IS OK"  and engine can be started . . . So, you need to REFLASH the ECU in order for the IMMO to be dissabled . . .
