09 M1100 40,000miles. Open clutch cover. Original plates.
When starting from a dead stop in first gear I am occasionally getting a "groan" and small vibration through the foot pegs. I have been thinking that is might be my clutch finally giving up, however when I am at speed I have whacked open the throttle pretty good to see if I can detect any slipping and I cannot.
Thoughts?

It's a fairly common issue.
The steel plates have contamination embedded on the surface.
It can be rejuvenated by using a scotch brite disc and cleaning the surface of the steel discs and cleaning the burrs off the ears of the fiber discs.
When I did mine I also added a curved steel plate facing the opposite way of the factory supplied curved disc at the other end of the stack. Your local shop probably has a used one lying around from a replaced pack.
Hasn't made a sound since.
+1 on giving it a scrub.
I reckon clutch friction dust works like graphite powder. At least it doesn't go through the motor on a dry clutch.
