The brown marks. I can't tell if it's fluid leaking past the braid, or what else it could be? Yes. My bike is really dirty..
Thanks guys.
I don't think I'd call it normal, but seems fairly common: http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=58375.15 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=58375.15)
Mine looked like that close to the clutch lever, so I wouldn't think it's heat related. Consensus seems to be small leak from within, but no major cause for concern unless it gets worse.
Same here
If it were mine, even a tiny leak in the line itself would have me change it.
I guess i will change it. Strange to see it leak like that. If it didnt have the clear jacket id be hosed. Hahaha.
I have the same, near the clutch reservoir. It was that way when I bought the bike a year ago and hasn't changed since. No issues I have spotted, but I will ask my mechanic next week, as I'm due a service.
If it's not leaking then it's just cosmetic, but if the discolouration is caused by a leak then surely it has to compromise the function of the brakes/clutch.
Is it possible that is discoloration on the steel from condensation forming between the clear tubing and the braid?
JM
Thats quite possible. Thanks. Didnt even think of that.
Mine is the same way; I always thought it was the writing that was on the line being heated up and disfigured. The brake line has some printing on it that is still plainly visible. I just assumed that the clutch line got hotter due to being used more often and it discolored the ink (or whatever was used).
