Title: Full System Exhaust
Post by: nats on July 15, 2008, 06:33:20 AM
Hi there. I have a new S2R1000. It was a left over stock of 2006 however has the specs of 2007 model (with the Lamnda sensor - or whatever the term is). The meter is just about 600km todate. I would like to install the Termignoni full system - with ECU and airbox, getting rid of the bulky cat eliminator. Anyway, I was told that it is best to first run in the engine prior to replacing the full system exhaust. Can someone here clarify on the subject. What is the implications on replacing the exhaust system during run in. Thanks.  ;)

I see no validity to this statement. If anything, you would want to run in an engine with it at its happiest A/F ratio. No lean surging, runs smoother and cooler and more consistent temp wise etc.

Hell, a ton of folks have purchased their bikes with a system already installed right from the dealer and before they have ever ridden it. I say go for it. I would have if I could have even gotten my hands opn the system I wanted for mine. Waited way too long for the dealer to get it and went out and found it myself, but that's another story...

I took delivery of my bike with the kit installed. I asked the dealer to please not start the bike with the stock exhaust on it - don't really know why.

The bike has literally never skipped a beat in 24,000 miles. A must do. I don't really even consider it a MOD.

Hey Guys. Thanks so much for the thots. To be honest, I am screaming inside to hear the termig music but was worried about this myth raised. Now the air is clear and I shall get it installed as soon as I leave my computer.  [beer]

Go forth and rattle some windows.

Don't live in fear based on others ignorance.  An Exhaust system will not "hurt" a motor that is properly tuned.

Termi, ECU and airbox will be fine
