Hi Everybody,
I just recently bought a Monster 1100 evo with 4000km on the clock. I like the bike and want to keep it. Problem is that there is a strange noise coming from belt covers. I listened carefully. It was located in the upper belt cover. My first idea was - belt tensioners or pulleys.
Just brought my Monster 1100 Evo to one motorcycle workshop. Service guy took off belt covers and checked belt tension. Upper belt was little loose so he tensioned it a little. Now i have even more noise coming. Especially when engine passes at 2000RPM. It can clearly be heard when engine rev'ing it self down.

Maybe could somebody listen and give me approximate guideline where to look for the fault.
I am ready to replace belts and pulleys. But it seems the noise is coming from the top timing belt roller.
I agree with your suspicions, maybe a rubbing belt?
Tension too tight? If not I would say pulleys too.
Welcome to the DMF [thumbsup]
