Title: analog instrument cluster
Post by: Dochunt on June 16, 2015, 11:07:54 AM
I really like the old analog cluster.
Has anyone ever attempted to replace the digit one with an analog cluster on a newer monster?

All the connectors are different as is the manufacturer of the software and hardware...gauges/ecu.

I'm not seeing it happening.

Damn.
The only solution I'm seeing is trying to get my wife to let me buy another older Monster
(maybe thats not such a bad thing) ;D

It would give you the opportunity to decide for yourself which generation is better.

Kinda like the old days.

The more I am getting to know this the more I am liking the older bikes.
I am kicking myself of not picking up a 07 S2R 1000 with only 3500 miles that was recent for sale in NJ for $4500.

Well...the S2R models are second generation, but you would really like that bike.

First gen are 93-99...second are 2K to the end of the S4RS models...'07/'08 I think. Third are the 696, and now they're even different again with all the changes in electronics. My old 96 M900 is all I need/want in a street bike.

The old carbed bikes have a raw quality and earthy character I love. The heavy crank feels substantial and motor config has so much character. It's more engaging to ride slow than my Hyper is to ride fast.

I have been think about relearning some of the skills I used to have 25 years ago when I would work on the simple japanese bikes.
I know what koko64 is saying.
It is true for cars and bike.
Sometimes too much technology removes you from the true experience.
