Title: Metal in oil
Post by: MostroS2R on June 16, 2015, 11:51:18 AM
Did an oil change on my S2R800 and found some metal shavings on the bolt magnet and in the oil.
First time I see that. Bike has about 30000km.
Regular oil changes, bike runs great, no issues.
Should I be worried???

"some" and "shavings" are not very quantifiable terms.

Pictures would help.

IMO, a very small, very fine "some" can be normal. Big chunkies, "more," and color can indicate problems.

Very fine and very small, no color that I could tell. No big chunks.

Some is normal.

The fact that it's changed suddenly would make me curious too.

I just lost the bottom end on my 996 after never really seeing much in several years of ownership.
