Title: 796 front suspension
Post by: Dochunt on July 06, 2015, 06:48:23 PM
The front end seems to dive on hard braking with my 220 lbs shifting forward despite tank grip pads.
What is a good way to stiffen up the non-adjustable front suspension?
Would changing just the spring or the oil be enough or do I need both?
I am trying to find a good shock mechanic in South/Central Jersey.
Would lowering the rear help?

Thanks in advance again.

I would leave the rear alone, the easy thing to do would be to put a spacer wonder the fork cap to increase the preload of the spring. If that helps look into a new spring with a high rating. Looking at then oil volume in the forks would be a good idea, as well as a heaver weight oil.
A trip to a suspension tech would be a very good idea!

I agree on seeing a good suspension tech if you are not capable of the job. Depending on where your Preload is at with the non adjustable forks( with the weight of you wearing your normal gear), a respring and revalve could be in the works to get that front dive under braking under control.

fit the 796 ?

Will it be a straight swap or require modifications ?

How much improvement can be expected ?
