Title: loose exhaust heat shield
Post by: Vam on July 22, 2015, 07:43:55 AM
Hello,
I'm a new Ducati 696 owner.  I have a 2009, I purchased used and I've been going over the bike to ensure everything works and is tight.  I noticed the exhaust heat shield below the tank moves freely, however the bolts are tight.  Is that normal, or should I add a washer or two and attempt to tighten?  Thanks!

There's an insulator that's most likely gone. There was another thread just recently... http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=71210.msg1315045#msg1315045 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=71210.msg1315045#msg1315045)

I think you need this part... 852.1.072.1A Washer

There's 16 of them on the bike, so I'd get spares

Cheap alternative and in any event if you can't get the real deal in time I have used these http://www.screwfix.com/p/fibre-washers-for-flexible-tap-connectors-pack-of-20/93297 (http://www.screwfix.com/p/fibre-washers-for-flexible-tap-connectors-pack-of-20/93297) and to be honest they have lasted a lot longer than the OEM ones and you can not see them when they are fitted anyhow.
