Title: Let the modding begin! Post by: CookieMonster on July 28, 2015, 11:10:43 AM Ok, it is official. What are some cheap mods/deletes I can start doing aside from the mirrors (I'm not too hot about them, they were included with the bike and may go up for sale soon) and the getting rid of the handlebar risers. I did get the front cover but I don't know if I'm gonna rock it or not.

Post by: duccarlos on July 28, 2015, 11:47:12 AM S2R1K are my favorite!! First thing, get ride of the udder!
Title: Re: Let the modding beging! Post by: CookieMonster on July 28, 2015, 12:27:33 PM That's the plan. I saw a single Termignoni shorty on a single sided swingarm Monster (now I can't find the picture) that I can not find anywhere. So then I was thinking of getting a udder delete I happen to find on fleabay and coring my OEM cans.

My question is the following. Has anyone gotten this eliminator and if so, does the short pipe that goes up in the middle need a gasket? I haven't gotten mine in the mail yet but I have the udder off as you can see and I want to be ready with no more time down than I already have. I did call and spoke to Jeff and he told me that I won't need it since its one piece pipe that goes to the motor but the picture they have makes me think a little. Post by: The ModFather on August 03, 2015, 09:56:08 PM Personally I'm a fan of Boom Tubes for the Monster. They really clean up the look of the bike and sound amazing. I'd say relocate the frame stickers under the seat, get some nice Rizoma Reservoirs and do something about the oem belt covers they're hideous. Rattle can them black or buy something aftermarket.
Title: Re: Let the modding beging! Post by: CookieMonster on August 04, 2015, 10:03:08 AM I dunno about Boom Tubes. Yes they're cheap but I think I rather have shorties. Now in regards to the belt covers, I think I will do just that, grab a can and go at it ;) now that was a good cheap mod.
Title: Re: Let the modding beging! Post by: stopintime on August 04, 2015, 12:01:05 PM You'll need to use the excisting gasket 8 inches down the line from the vertical cylinder.
The Termignoni "shorty" is quite rare to find. Coring the stockers, but with packing material a.s.o. will make you smile [thumbsup] Belt covers can be dyed with fabric dye - great results and even cheaper (search belt covers + dye) Title: Re: Let the modding beging! Post by: ute on August 04, 2015, 02:43:57 PM Get rid of the side covers ..expose the trellis
Completely remove the belt covers you don't need them cut front fender down get rid of stock turn signals and as someone else said remove passenger pegs Nice looking bike ..enjoy the mod bug Title: Re: Let the modding beging! Post by: The ModFather on August 05, 2015, 12:01:44 PM Yeah definitely dye the belt covers. Where they're located the paint chips pretty easily from road debris. There's a thread on here on how to do it. I did mine and they came out great. Super easy to do as well. Michael's Craft Shops carry the dye.
Title: Re: Let the modding beging! Post by: koko64 on August 05, 2015, 03:02:28 PM Firstly, nice bike and welcome.
My humble opinion. ;D Are you going to run an open airbox? If so, make sure to include that detail in the reflash. It provides a performance gain with most Ducatis as shown by many tuners. Have a good discussion about your reflash options. I like the winking light of the immobilizer, looks like an alarm system. At least keep the light. Dont chop your guard, keep it stock and buy a custom carbon guard that protects your forks from pitting. There should be something out there that grabs you. Keeping the belt covers is good as they help keep crap out of the belt rollers. I like satin black too. I would buy custom covers before chopping the stockers. I would keep the side covers, but thats me. Some of the more radical exhausts may rob power, or at least be more difficult to tune and are incredibly loud. The exhaust volume may or may not be a problem where you are. Its all personal taste I guess. Feel free to add more carbon. ;D Title: Re: Let the modding beging! Post by: CookieMonster on August 05, 2015, 03:18:06 PM Thanks guys, awesome suggestions guys...keep'em coming! Unfortunately I found out about the open box right after I purchased the flat K&N filter. I was thinking of a Mivv exhaust but I just may core the OEMs and maybe wrap the outer shell with one of those carbon fiber looking wrap (providing the heat doesn't melt it off) or just paint'em matte black. However, when I do end up reflashing my ECU I will keep the immobilizer (I paid too much GOT DAM money for a retrieval to just get rid of it lol).
I am on the fence about the side covers, they are CF as is the belly cover. So I may switch it up every now and then and rock different looks in that department. Title: Re: Let the modding beging! Post by: koko64 on August 05, 2015, 03:53:36 PM The open airbox uses the flat K&N filter with the lid top cut open.
Title: Re: Let the modding beging! Post by: CookieMonster on August 05, 2015, 04:36:36 PM The open airbox uses the flat K&N filter with the lid top cut open. Ah I see, then I WILL have an open box ;) the reason I had said what I said was because I have seen cone filters used without a top. I'm still learning the Monster way lol [Dolph] Title: Re: Let the modding beging! Post by: The ModFather on August 05, 2015, 04:48:43 PM The Dremel is your new best friend. I chopped my belt covers with a dremel after dying them black to simulate the $400 Leggero belt covers. I've never had an issue with debris in the pulleys or belts and if you ask other people who actually run no belt covers debris in there isnt a real threat unless youre riding regularly on some gravel laden shitty roads. I also chopped my front fender for a shorter cafe look and my rear fender. All with the dremel. I also powder coated my monoshock spring silver as the yellow just started to bug me after a while. I also added Sport Classic white face gauges and a new gas cap.

I will be doing that to my covers because I am sure as hell not spending no $400 in covers lol I like the cluster faces with chrome rings too. Thank you for giving me a template. As far as the cap I am a fan of the 1/4 T cap. Now the spring I like yellow, it breaks things up a bit, I had a silver spring on my R1 and wasn't a fan, it looked to me as if it was a generic spring. But on yours just looks nice, it looks like your bike is ready for a fight lol Title: Re: Let the modding beging! Title: Re: Let the modding begin! Post by: stopintime on August 06, 2015, 12:12:31 AM I've seen cored stockers with some, but not all, of the internal tubes removed. Loud, but without the refined bass sound.
I've also seen completely empty stockers which then has been build like a normal exhaust, with perforated tube and packing material between the tube and outer shell. Nicer 'music' quality. http://www.pjengineering.co.uk/ (http://www.pjengineering.co.uk/) |
