Title: K&N Drop In
Post by: NAKID on July 31, 2015, 08:55:07 AM
So, I figured after 37k, my stock paper filter was due for replacement. Ordered the standard drop in K&N from MonsterParts (thanks Jeff!) and installed it yesterday.

The ride in this morning was COMPLETELY different!

Before, I would have some exhaust popping on full throttle shifts, that's gone.

Shifting seems smoother as well, likely because it's now easier to rev match.

Seems to have more punch. I imagine fuel economy will increase as well. I'll know Tuesday morning when I fill up again, fresh tank this morning.

All in all, a great $68 purchase!

No surprise at 59,200 kms! I bet it wasn't flowing too well. I like to check the K&Ns every oil change and clean them every 2nd or 3rd. Dont let the filter medium dry out (go grey) and apply rubber grease to the rubber seal if you want it to actually filter dirt. The filters can get a bad rap for dirty airboxes, but thats usually accompanied by dry filters and no grease on the rubber seal. My airbox on the M900 is clean as a whistle with a greased seal and the filter being the correct colour.

Your filter kit come with the tube of seal grease? Seems a common addition nowdays.

Nope. The rubber seal was a bit tacky and seems to seal just fine though.
