Title: Found an O-Ring (pic)
Post by: Goggles Pizano on August 07, 2015, 04:20:43 PM
Found on ground on right side of bike. Around same time I removed seat and lifted tank. Found prior to fuel line disconnect and tank removal.  Smells like gas a day later, so I'm 99.44% it's from the bike, nothing is jumping out at me and bike starts fine.  Any ideas? Thanks!!

Hmmm... which model Ducati is it?

04 M620D with 01 900 injected engine.  Have quick disconnects for fuel lines but found prior to that and this is way too big for them.

620 tank.

did you change your oil lately? Maybe the filler plug cap lost an o-ring?

That's what I was thinking, looks about the right size for that.

Not from the oil fill plug, that is still there.  I've lifted the tank a few times but cant see anything where this might have come from.  Nothing is leaking yet.

Hmm..I'm grasping at straws here. I cant think of anything that has an o-ring that big.

If you think its from under the tank what about the fuel level sensor? Would that have an o-ring? Have you tried downloading the exploded parts diagram for a 620 from the ducati site?

Fuel sensor o-ring is green, and there's no way it can 'fall' out.

Great call on the parts manual, I had that downloaded already.  Doing a search for o-ring I see one behind the rear brake lever.

I'll take a look there now.

The brake shaft o-rings are smaller.

Clean and lube it while you're there.....
