Title: She's the one... Post by: CookieMonster on August 16, 2015, 12:48:48 PM Ok so when I was in search of the perfect Monster, while keeping maintenance cost in mind, she happened to choose me. Let's remember one thing. I was riding an R1 for a few years after settling on that due to not finding the right Monster. Fast forward a few years later and after battling with the choice of either an S2R and S4R(S) the S2R crossed my path and the trade opportunity came through.
Me being used to the insane power of the R1 transitioning to the S2R seemed kinda silly at first. I even started questioning my decision making till the very last minute. The trade happened nonetheless, and shortly after it reached my garage it was down due to having to send my ECU/Cluster for some work, and while it was down I chose to get rid of the udder and do a dye job on the covers. Total time down was nearly a month and hadn't really ridden the bike. To make a long story short, yesterday and today was the day, the day we became one. I think I will be collecting one more of these and possibly include a S4R model to my garage. When riding I felt like I was up to no good, I sounded like I was up to no good! Harley riders would turn to look, sport bikes would slow down considering that there aren't too many bikes like mine around here (I have only seen one around me and I don't know if its a forum member.) Anyway, the feeling and the sound was like no other, I wonder what this bike is going to sound like when I install the air filter, core my exhaust and reflash. I wanted to install the air filter without modding the air box but I think I will need to reflash it regardless. Oh yes, and I cleaned the cat delete pipes prior to firing it up but I don't think I did a good job because as much as I like when they go blue it looks a bit spotty. Oh and I have a little oil leak that needs sealing, I heard it happens a lot. I've seen the post around on the fix, I have to search it again. Also, I didn't know how I was going to feel about these mirrors, but after riding I saw VERY little vibration if any, and although they may seem tiny they are plenty big to see behind you. So I'll be keeping these bad boys. BTW, considering that the previous owner had some mods, but it still has an OEM air filter, is there a way to know if the ECU was ever reflashed? Title: Re: She's the one... Post by: Gosling 1 on August 16, 2015, 01:23:28 PM Nice looking ride!!! I like the white rims (when clean), my '07 came with black rims. I too ditched the udder and was thinking about a core job on the stock cans but I read about these Sil Moto slip ons in another thread. Bid $500 shipped and they accepted it, a bit loud but sound amazing.
