Title: Help me join the club - Monster choices
Post by: SKullman on September 11, 2015, 08:05:30 AM

Ok, I've been trolling for about 2 weeks.  There are a good number of Ducatis available in my area and I've driven to see a few of them.

I've been off a bike for a few years and have all the opportunities to get back on.

Let me lay this out, all out speed and track days are not on the list.  Riding with friends are, day trips, occasional commutes for work.  I do like to tinker, I'm not afraid to take things apart. Do almost all my own work when it doesn't require crazy expensive special tools.

  So my choices are:

A well cared for and recently rebuilt 2001 750 with new tires, new rotors, fresh valve adjust, belts are fairly new, slip ons, fresh paint, no dents, pod filter with jet kit. 17k on the clock.

Second a mechanic owned 2007 S2R 1000, Full service this spring, New tires, fluids, chain, New fuel pump wiring and Barnett racing clutch, Arrow pipes, no dents and 22k on the clock.

There is $1000 difference in price before any negotiating.  I figure I have more room to tinker on the 750, the S2R I wouldn't have too...

Why should I choose one over the other?

Help!?!?

Is this a trick question?  ;)

The S2R has more of everything - both are equally tinker friendly - the S2R through a little more electronics though...

750 1000 !!!  [Dolph]

I voted for the fuel injected bike.  Carbs = suck.

S2R 1000 without a doubt. IF those are the only two options.

Personally its a tougher choice if you said S2R 800 vs S2R 1000. That 800 motor is wonderful

The S2R 1000 hands down. It is a sought after bike.
