Title: DUCATI Triumph NYC won't do it...really?!
Post by: CookieMonster on September 17, 2015, 09:06:07 AM
I must say that I am a bit disappointed and shocked. I just got off the phone with the so called best dealership & service in the northeast and they won't touch my bike.

I just recently purchased a DP Race ECU and in order for my bike to run properly I have to get my trim adjusted. I was thinking of doing it myself but the software I got is all in Italian and cannot understand some of the fields. So I called a few local places and they aren't equipped for Italian bikes. So I said "oh screw it...I'll just take the 1.5 hr ride into Manhattan and let them do it" but I called to price it out and they won't do it.

I guess I now need to master this software and do it myself.

They are sort of a cut and dry shop. Everything is logged, and they dont deal with things outside of whats text book.

Where do you live? There are many shops around that will work on ducatis that are far far better than Ducati NY.

I'm in Morris County NJ, you'd figure that that type of service would be part of their bread and butter.

Did they say why? Just because you didn't buy it from them or what?

Well I'm happy to say that I finally got the software to work in English! I also purchased the two cables needed so I'll be adjusting my own trim, TPS and everything else the program can do for just under $15.

If it were me...

I'd call DNA and tell them that one of their franchised dealers wouldn't make adjustments to a bike necessary due to a factory accessory.

Is it an EPA issue?

The race ecu is not technically street legal, so maybe that's the reason. In California a lot of (maybe most) dealerships won't install a race ecu and exhaust anymore because the CARB (CA air board) cracked down on a bunch of dealerships and fined them. If there is any indication the bike is operated on the street then they won't touch them...race bike, then sure.

it's all good, I just thought it was crazy disappointing how they refused but whatever. I will be doing it myself, I just received the blue cable and just waiting on the Fiat cable to adjust my trim and rest my TPS. If anything I think I should be thankful since this encouraged me to be more involved and learn more.

NYS does not check emissions for motorcycles.

Nor does California.
