Title: Taillight options
Post by: Junkie on September 23, 2015, 08:57:50 AM
My bike isn't a Monster, but it's a decent size twin (SV1000) and has a Monster seat/taillight on it. The problem I'm encountering is that the ebay integrated lights don't last very long - I had one fail about a year ago and one is now almost entirely failed. I don't need integrated but I'm happy with it. I'd prefer LED to incandescent.

Any suggestions for a brand? I might just have to pick up a stock incandescent light and use it but I'd rather go LED if there's something available that lasts.

edit: forgot to mention, it's an older seat. Not sure what version, maybe M900, but all the lights appear to be the same until the 696/1100.

There has been a lot of positive comments (almost consensus?) about the MotoDynamic lights http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/D-MST/Elec-Head-Tail/D-MST.html (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/D-MST/Elec-Head-Tail/D-MST.html)

If the product wasn't good MonsterParts wouldn't be selling it.  Sequential signals, IMO, is a very desirable feature on an integrated light.

Motodynamics integrated light - worked great for the last year on mine also. Although it's $70 or so and the similar looking Chinese ones are $25-30 on ebay, I had the cheap one fail after a few months on the bike. Spend the extra $.

What's the wiring setup on those? Are there wires sticking out far enough that I can solder something else to them?

I've had the Motodynamics for 3 years and it hasn't missed a beat. [thumbsup]

Yes.

the motodynamic taillight wires seem extra long (on my m900), and have the resistor on them.
