Title: need some HELP! monster 1000 / multistrada s2r ecu compatability?????!!
Post by: oldsmobgarv on October 01, 2015, 01:53:29 PM
I have a 2004 monster 1000sie. The problem began as i was riding, everything was going fine until the bike decided to start running like garbage out of nowhere. I narrowed the problem down to the horizontal cylinder coil not firing. To test whether the horizontal coil, plugs, and wires were ok i switched all of them to the vertical cylinder coil, plugs and wires. And they worked fine. I was left puzzled so i took it to the dealer and they're saying the ecu is bad.

It has an open air box and i'm not sure of the exhaust. i know they're at least slip-ons and i dont know what each sensor is, but there are none on the exhaust.  (the link is for a picture of the bike to give a better idea of the exhaust)

I have a 04 mutistrada 1000 s2r stock ecu and a 04 multistrada 1000 s2r "race" ecu.
Supposedly the race ecu is for an open airbox and full pipes.
My local ducati shop can reprogram the immobilizer.

So my question is can i use either of the multistrada ecu's on the monster? and which one would be a better option if i can?

We can't see the picture, because it is on your hard drive...

AFAIK, the basic motor spec is the same, airbox and exhaust are different.

I'd recommend downloading the relevant year owner's manuals, and compare the wiring diagrams to be sure the pinout on the ECU is the same.
I would think it would be the same, but I'd still check that prior to plugging them in.

if ECUs are from same model/year, plug 'n play . .  but, why call the mts a s2r?
