Hello Forum,
Hope to find some help here, I recently bought a Monster 750 dark from 2000. I noticed after riding that there was a leak around the clutch slave cylinder. Removed it, and it was covered in gunk and sliced rubber parts, seems that one or more parts are missing or broken. I will take photos tomorrow when its daytime. Anyway, I noticed there was a threaded hole next to the rod with no screw in it... Found a photo of the area from another member (I marked the screw with a red circle),
Whats the purpose of this screw? Why is it missing? Is it Important?
Also the area marked blue on the picture was chipped, probably from a previous chain mishap. I suspect its a O-ring sealing surface, does the whole area need to be perfect or is it enough area for the o-ring to seal properly?

I personally do not see anything out of the ordinary, and this is a nice place to start, http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=39hbt8bt2ea9m7cgv25gf450f5;www;board=14 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=39hbt8bt2ea9m7cgv25gf450f5;www;board=14)
the o-rings you can get at the dealership, 2 for the rod 1 for slave . . clean the area and re-install rod . . .
Thank you for the answer and I will present myself properly in that section, but I think you misunderstood. The picture is not from my bike, on my bike the screw marked in red is missing. I want to know what that screw is for?
that is one of the screws that holds the alternator cover tight in place . . .
Hmm, should probably put a screw in there. Could there be oil leaking out from that hole? Or is the alternator side "dry"
It will leak oil from that area if that screw is missing.
When you pull the clutch lever, the slave cylinder pushes the rod in, and pulls out on the cover.
Put a bolt in, and see if the leak stops.
You may need to remove the cover and re-seal it.
