Title: Scrambler headlight
Post by: DucDucGoos on October 19, 2015, 03:58:53 PM
Has anyone looked into putting the Scrambler headlight onto their monster?

It would be a bit of work, the scrambler headlight is attached automotive style to a bracket, that then bolts to the triples.

What about a generic scrambler type headlamp?

Naw.. I rly like the LED's that are on the scrambler one.. I love the way it looks..

If there is a generic one that is similar in that aspect with the 4 LED's I would be interested!

I've got a jwspeaker full led light on my monster. Mounted in the factory bucket with the motowheels adapter ring. I saw a cruiser on the road with a similar light with an Amber ring similar to what the scrambler has. No idea of the brand that was on that bike, but it may be an option.

Seems you would order L or R to match which side of the road you drive on.

Well if you're in the US you would order the DOT light which only comes in right. The ECE are for Europe.

It is a JW speaker Evo 2 light with new adapter ring to work in the stock buckets.

Right now Motodemic has adapter rings for the metal buckets. Plastic buckets should be completed soon and are just a tad skinnier but look about the same.

Plastic bucket ones have an adapter - I believe they are available now

also, here is the lighting comparison

That really looks nice and the hardware (as posted on their site) looks top notch for my 696. But, wowzers...over $600 for hardware and light...

Any issues with either the instal or the light Heath?  The video on their website makes it look pretty straight forward.

I have an S4RT so my install is way different than that install. I just watched the video and I agree that is straight forward.

The light has been great. Did a ride down to San Francisco and back a week or so ago. On the way back in the dark the light out put was great.

I'm quoting myself because I went ahead and ordered for my M696. What the heck, it's just money, right?

Please post pics when you are done. I know I'm going to get flamed for saying this, but I quite like the shape of the stock headlight. I do love the idea of a LED though, so am sitting on the fence for now.

Received the hardware and finished the install in about 30 minutes. The hardware design and material is top notch. It was easy to put together and, imo, looks fantastic. I need to adjust the angle of the beam but already I can tell the light output is much, much better than the stock unit.

I'll have pix posted soon.

I'm very pleased with this mod.  [thumbsup]

Here it is. If you want a pic of the hardware before the light went on, let me know.

Looks good, especially on your bike with the all black theme.  Any chance of a square on side picture of the whole bike?  That's the angle I'm worried will look off.  The current light sits squat against the forks but this one looks a bit suspended in front of them, which I'm not sure I like.  Are you happy with all the cable routing and how well they are kept out of sight?

I will get some pix up for you. It'll take a few days because I was in an accident (car) and have some broken ribs and sternum. Thanks for your patience.

The cable routing is fantastic because extra cable can be tucked into the bucket of the light. It's a very well done light.

That looks fantastic.  It would be a great upgrade for the "classic" monster and bring it up to date a bit.

Wow.  I'm sorry to hear that.  I guess it is lucky you weren't on your bike, as the injuries would likely be even worse (not to mention the damage to the bike).  I hope you get better soon.  Don't stress about the pictures, I'm in no rush and am not quite ready for a new 'project' yet!

Thanks for your patience. Yeah, I was a passenger in a car. We were t-boned by a red light runner.  [thumbsdown]

I'm still on the mend (turns out I have 2 broken ribs, along with everything else I mentioned). I know I'm getting better because now that the pain is a bit more manageable, I'm pissed that I can't get on my Duc. Anyway, I'll have some pix soon.
