Title: Powdercoat - Matching Ducati Red
Post by: Heath on November 28, 2015, 01:58:14 PM
Looking to match the Ducati Red frame color as close as possible. I was wondering if anyone has found a match from Prismatic Powders? The powdercoater near me uses this brand of powder and it is really nice.

Id ride over and look at samples but the bike is torn apart right now. I can order samples online too but wanted to see if anyone has already found a match.

So far with my Google fu I have found Cardinal T009-RD03 Red 90% Gloss and DuPont Red Baron. Saw a sample of Red Baron today and it looks pretty close. Hope to ride my bike over in the near future to see if it matches.

None of the Ducati Reds are the same.

If there's something you want to match, take it to the powdercoater and see what they've got.

I share my shop with a guy that's been painting for decades.
Folks worldwide ship him RC-30 bodywork to repair and repaint exactly like original.
He knows paint.

A couple years ago, a guy rolled into the shop with a slightly rashed yellow 748.
Asked if we could repair the bodywork and match the yellow.
My shopmate said "Sure, which panel would you like it to match? They're all different."

I used to know a guy that did the same with Ducati's... :P

There's a reason for the color variance, but I won't bore anyone with it.

No two bikes are the same...unless they're Darks, and it's tough to match those too.

Why each bike different? Gotta be a good Ducati story in it. ;D
