Hi folks, I just bought a beautiful 2000 M900s modded to the hilt and have found that the CF tank is leaking from a rear seam. Bike had sat for 2 years after proper prep was done (tank emptied and dried) but as soon as I gassed it up I could smell it. I've used por15 before on an old steel tank and had a replacement tank for another Monster tank Caswell coated, but CF stuff is a new game for me.
Anybody been through this before?
Any advice on what to do?
And maybe where to get it done so's I don't screw it up?

I'd recommend Caswell Epoxy in that tank, but I like the POR Marine clean for getting the fuel out.

You won't need the whole kit. Use it slightly thinned with Zylene or epoxy reducer for easier coverage.
Thanks ducpainter. To get me thru the last bit of riding here before winter sets in I'm going to try a short term fix. Since the leak is at a seam at the rear of the tank underside I'm going to apply some recommended industrial epoxy on the outside of the tank (hidden). If it does the trick: fine, if not I'll do the Caswell coating per the Caswell instructions with the por marine clean now instead of later.

PS- I had been told that CF tanks were not affected by ethanol, BUT....... any body else want to weigh in?

It really depends on the resin they used.
Well my buddy said that the stuff that the local welding supply has is better than my usual liquid steel. I got some today (a chilly but still fun 30 mile ride) and it is called "Goop, for automotive etc use and impervious to gasoline". I'll give it a try tomorrow after warming up the tank, lower 20's here tonight.
