Title: Oil spray after rides and small leaks help
Post by: CookieMonster on December 17, 2015, 10:39:09 AM
So I have read that this problem is somewhat common among Monsters. Then a while back I ran into the thread that showed these same pictures and the fix. However, I have done an extensive search and cannot find the thread again.

Before I start taking things apart does anyone know of the thread or the repair to this issue? I always see oil spray on my carbon scoop, and the other sports pictured. I'm thinking O rings but then I had a small oil puddle where the wipe is the size of a half dollar as seen in the third picture.

Start with cleaning everything well and observing.  Spraying with foot powder can help if you still can't tell were the leak is from.  The leak may be as simple as a valve cover gasket.  And the year/model of your bike is?

I have a 2006 S2R 1000, I found out that the leak on the floor originates from my oil filter, that is a new occurrence it never did before. Now all that's left is the other oil seepage. :(

Cam endcap has an O-ring, as does each valve cover.

And each rocker shaft has a tiny O-ring in a groove on the left end.

When I did a valve adjust recently I found the o ring on one of the valve covers was torn. If wasn't leaking but it could have been!

Thank you, gonna look into changing them all. You gave me an idea on what I should account for.

I hope the bad leak at the rear originates above the mating faces between the head and barrel. Lets hope it's the rear valve cover.
