Title: joined the Multi crew today so bring the ideas on
Post by: muskrat on December 31, 2015, 06:34:28 PM
I'm head over heals with my 1200s, 2015.  Dam what a bike and because I didn't have enough room for 5 bikes in the garage the 06 S4R had to go :'( :'( :'(
So, I'd like to hear your opinions, websites and general commentary on good mods. I do want a back rest for the Wife and all I've seen are the GIVI trunks.  I'd also like the crash bars, in RED please, LED fog/driving lights, radiator guards and such.  I planned on waiting but being an impulse buyer took over my sanity today.  So guys, I enlist your help with the above.
Thanks for your replies.

and the paint scheme I'm gonna do in about 30-60 days (http://worlds-super-bikes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/2011-ducati-multistrada-1200.jpg)

Thanks.  Anyone have opinions on the best slip on exhaust without having to do a tune that is not Termi?

Nice muskrat, nice  [thumbsup]

My M1100s is off to the Duc dealer tomorrow for some TLC...... whilst I'm there..... I must resist the urge.... must resist........

There's definitely a new Multi in my future.....  1200s touring (like yours) was top of my list.... now thinking I'll wait for the Enduro....

I'll be very interested to hear what you have to report... as you get to know your new ride  [popcorn]

Congrats  [thumbsup]

I saw one up close last week and was very impressed. Congratulations [thumbsup]
That paint scheme looks great on the S model.
What does the DP catalogue have on offer? Ask the Dealer for one. The DP catalogue is dangerous fun! [laugh]

I would also extend the warranty  because the bike is packed with technology. There may be things that you cant fix by yourself out of warranty so I would protect my outlay with a gold class type warranty. Kind of like owing a new Audi, BMW or Merc.

Good folks and good (more MTS-specific) info there.   [thumbsup]

I'm going to ride some more today but so far riding up the tollway at 90+ was smooth as butter and I have to tell you that the bucking under 4k RPM does not exist.  Frankly it's a bit scary how fast you can get speed on this bike.

what's a good slip-on exhaust (shorty preferred) that I can get without making a down payment on a house or re-tunning the bike?

I sat on one....  declined the offer to ride it.....  I don't yet want to confirm what I already think I know.... coz we all know how that'll end  [laugh].

They had the seat in the low position..... I was able to completely flat foot it (5'9" short arse).  Gonna wait 'til the Enduro shows up... see what I feel about that.... if it's too tall for me then I may well end up on a white 1200s Touring.

No rush  ;D

yep, couldn't keep Wife doped up on xanax long enough for her to understand I needed to keep it.....I failed and traded her.  She's at Ducati Dallas so talk to Marty.  She's one fine bike and have been taken care of like a new born, ask the shop guys.

alright guys: What slip on exhaust should I consider? Right now I'm at Mivv and Akro, not sure about the Termi and their horrendous pricing.

some spirited riding today now that I'm understanding her better.  She dips into corners like they are made for her with absolutely no waddle whatsoever, as if the bike was 6-10 inches shorter.  The throttle on Sport is a little twitchy but maybe it's me getting used to riding my S4R for 7 years.  The ergonomics are absolutely incredible, almost as good as my barca lounger (Harley Electra Glide).  For  being so high up it felt like I was skimming the ground in sharp corners and completely composed.  In fact, i pissed a bunch of Harley riders today and Beemer guys, the latter tried to keep up but no luck.  [evil]

+1 on the crash bars you already mentioned. They look bad ass and work. I watched a guy misstep off his bike and tip it over. He started laughing cause the crash bars did their job. Just tipped it back up like nothing happened.

Congrats

A few of us have just ridden through Tuscany, Sardinia and Corsica. One on the latest Multi, another on the BMW  S1000XR Both are more than competent riders. One is an ex Oz  SBK racer. They swapped bikes and both agreed the Multi was the faster and better bike for the roads They loved the power band. Very addictive. So much so the mate bought one .
Here's a riders first experience when testing one. Warning Bad Language!

your best bet for exhaust is the Termi, the mapping might cure any shortcomings the regular maps have and all updates will be applied equally, once you have that, you can go any route you wish regarding exhaust.

regarding bags/trunks, the GIVI brand is the one who makes the OEM stuff for Ducati, but, for the Enduro, a little bird told me, they are using SW-Motech . .. since you want a backrest for the missus, I suggest you go the GIVI or OEM way for this one . . .

if you order the bike with the Touring package you get some goodies that might otherwise cost a lot purchasing them later . . .

my 0.02 and congrats on the new girl

Dax,

The slip-on's on my bike are SC Project. I'm happy with them, but like you have pointed out, after 5+ years and 40,000+ miles they could use a fresh clear coat.

By the way, change your signature.

You need 25 posts or 30 days as a member before you can post to the Classified section. However, I think you can PM folks as soon as you're a member.

Or, if you want, you can PM me your contact info and I can pass it along to the seller.

so while surfing craigslist for useless shit I found T-Rex asking for model bikes to mock up various components.  I called and much to my surprise I got a call back.  Personally I dislike the Ducati crash bars so I told them that's what I wanted.  Much to my delight the owner listened to my suggestions to follow the lines of the bike and to do them in red, so without further commentary here it is.  Feel free to tell me your thoughts

I'm a little.... not-quite-comfortable with upper rear flat-bar mounting material.....  not sure as to the lateral strength it'd afford....

But in the function vs form equation.... very nicely done.

There are rubber mounts behind the bars onto the frame for support.
