Title: Anyone have FCR 41 carbs on 1st gen Monster?
Post by: ccm900 on January 03, 2016, 12:05:51 AM
I have a first gen monster and when I bought it, it already ha fcr 41's. So I never got to see what certain things looked like stock. The oil reserve or overflow has a tube that comes out with a k&n oil filter on it. I think stock there was a tube running to the air box? My mechanic mentioned something like that so I may be wrong? Anyways, my problem is that oil spills from the oil filter (small amounts) and gets the frame dirty over time. Drives me nuts. What do you guys have on this piece? Will a tube running up to the battery be sufficient?

Yes you could try a long hose and then the filter. Check your oil level too, as too hi an oil level won't help. Big miles on motor or hi comp pistons?

Filter won't fit on the end of the tube. Can't shut the tank :(

The stock box thingy the breather hose goes to looks like it is still there. If oil is getting up that high in that box could the breather valve be bad and just be blowing mist up into the box?

That's where I'd start. Crank case breather.
