Title: 01 M750 Coating on silencers
Post by: scaudill on January 07, 2016, 03:54:11 PM
I have almost finished coring/shortening my exhaust canisters.  My plan was to powder coat the aluminum bodies.  The oval body has a flat to give clearance for cornering.  To disassemble the silencer I had to cut that 1/2 moon section out, I Tig welded a section back in.  To prep for welding the coating was removed.  Will the coating accept powder coat or must it be removed.
I removed all of the baffle and chambers. Shortened the canister to 10". Used a 1.5" perforated H-D baffle tube wrapped with hi temp fiberglass.  I replaced everything and it sounds good.
Now its just a matter of making them look good..
Any ideas.
Thanks, Sterling
