Title: New exhaust pics..QD midpipe, Fresco Ti slip-ons Post by: venomousr1993 on July 16, 2008, 06:15:26 PM Well here are a few pics of the new exhaust I got put on today after work. First I have to say thanks to MotoWheels for their professionalism and calls to make sure I got what I needed..even when it was not in stock....thanks Ed.
First of all, the QD mid-pipe is a nice piece that is put together well. The only problems I had was with the mounting brackets. I had to heat and bend both of them to line up correctly for the bolts to fit right. Otherwise the welds were very nice. The Fresco Titanium slip-ons were a whole other story. Though they sound great, the workmanship is awful. The welds are sloppy and pipes crooked. The mounts for the boot/heat guards do not allow you to "bolt on" your existing stock guards. The threads are too large and the mounting brackets themselves were spaced too far apart. I was not going to hack up the stockers, so I will make a set this weekend out of aluminum or carbon fiber. Also had to make the mounting bracket to the frame because the one with the Fresco kit was horrible and about 2" too short. I had some 3/16" flat stock in the garage and made a quick bracket. I assume this is because the QD midpipe sets the slip-ons back further...which are close to the blinkers (I am sure if you have the stock ones they may touch or get melted). I have spent the money, but may get a different set of slip-ons later down the road. I do like how they sound though. Anyway, here are a few quick photos I took. I also installed a PCIII...Gonna have MSP Cycle get it on the dyno in the morning before heading into work.
