Title: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: Manny on May 07, 2008, 10:56:12 AM it has better two-up capabilities than my monoposto monster, a bigger engine (1000ds), and can handle hard bags. i'd keep the monster.
but it's fugly as sin. anyone with experience or input on the subject? performance? ways to de-fuglyify it? Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: akmnstr on May 07, 2008, 11:08:13 AM To help with the fugly part you might consider a used Gran Canyon. Best looking dual sport ever and a 900 duc engine.
Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: Juan on May 07, 2008, 11:09:15 AM Oh man, you will love the Multistrada. I have a 2005 1k, and you are correct it is much better for two up, and it handles really good. The first thing you will notice is the comfort of seating right up, once you start riding it you will notice how high up you are compared to the Monster, and than you will notice that all the weight is right under you, making it handle superbly. Like I said you will not regret it. On the road with two up, your passenger can slide into your seat easy, making it a little uncomfortable, but it is all about getting used to it. In a short time, your passenger, will learn to stay on her seat..!!
Do a test drive, and have your $$ ready.. ;:| If you think this is ugly let me know... !! http://www.motociclismo.it/edisport/moto/Notizie.nsf/AllDocID/I4A827CF743658B96C12573710058E402?OpenDocument(http://) (http://www.motociclismo.it/edisport/moto/gallery.nsf/0/EF201CF82CF79418C1257371005893C8/$file/15.jpg) MOTOWHEELS sells this upgrade. ;D Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: silentbob on May 07, 2008, 11:31:48 AM Wow, Nick should have patented his Multi creation. First the Hyper knockoff and now the Motowheels version.
I spent quite a bit of time on the Multi and I loved it. You don't notice the ugliness once you are on it and when it is parked in the garage you just need to look at it from the rear. I almost bought one but I ended up with an ST4. It was a bit more sporty and easier on the eyes. Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: Manny on May 07, 2008, 12:50:16 PM that's pretty, juan. could you break it down as far as parts and cost? thanks.
anyone notice cornering problems because of lack of clearance? Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: Triple J on May 07, 2008, 01:04:39 PM Multis are great bikes. wt: They handle as well as a Monster, handle much better at slow speeds, can carry things, and are more comfortable. They're not as good looking admittedly. Even so, I really don't miss my M900.
It will take a few miles to get used to the seating position after being used to a Monster. I've never had any issues with scraping things that I didn't have with my Monster. I'd say the most likely thing to scrape would be the centerstand if you get a bike with one. I removed mine when I got a full exhaust. The '04 models seem to have an issue with backfiring if slip-ons are installed...mine was no different. The addition of a Powercard from LTSnyder solved the problem (his '04 also backfired). Fuel gauges in all the models but the 1100 are useless. Light comes on at 1/2 tank. Really lame...but just use the trip meter. No real problems other than those that I can think of. I really like the Motowheels kit. I emailed them for a price about 3 weeks ago but never got a reply. :-\ Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: TCK! on May 07, 2008, 01:20:26 PM If the model Juan posted was available from Ducati, I'd put my M800 back together and just sell it... That's a hot bike, I like it...
As already requested, how much would it cost to make a 'Strada look like that?? *EDIT* Oh and for those like me that don't speak Italian, here's a translated version of the website listed by Juan (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.motociclismo.it%2Fedisport%2Fmoto%2FNotizie.nsf%2FAllDocID%2FI4A827CF743658B96C12573710058E402%3FOpenDocument&langpair=it|en&hl=en&ie=UTF8) Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: Turf on May 07, 2008, 01:53:18 PM Take a ride on one and you'll love it
When i worked for a dealer, my girl never wanted to go on rides with any of my bikes but if i brought a strada home she'd request a ride The looks grow on ya Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: ducducgooseme on May 07, 2008, 02:35:45 PM Hey Manny...the multi is the cats nuts for commuting! wt: very very comfortable and pretty fun to ride. You can throw workout clothes, laptop, etc in the bags and not have to deal with a back pack, etc. I can't say enough good stuff about the bike. I never got around to cleaning the look up, but I love what Nick did to his.
You getting the s? Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: factorPlayer on May 07, 2008, 03:25:28 PM I did a couple thousand miles on the 1100s. All I can say is I miss it terribly. One of the best bikes I've ever ridden. wt:
Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: Manny on May 07, 2008, 04:02:03 PM You getting the s? right now it's just a pipe dream. hopefully i'll have a new job soon, and then when my arm heals, i'll be more serious about it. until then, i'm just doing some research. thanks for the responses. sounds like i won't likely be disappointed. 8) Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: m1moto on May 07, 2008, 04:18:10 PM I rode the "S" version a while back and loved every moment, definitely my next bike Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: Howie on May 07, 2008, 09:00:20 PM Juan, careful! Ducati just might copy your bike as a model for a Multstrada face lift.
Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: IZ on May 07, 2008, 09:13:54 PM it has better two-up capabilities than my monoposto monster, a bigger engine (1000ds), and can handle hard bags. i'd keep the monster. but it's fugly as sin. anyone with experience or input on the subject? performance? ways to de-fuglyify it? JJGeo has one and loves it. I've ridden one. Very comfy. MotoGPFan's Multi is hot! You can make them nice! Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: Randy@StradaFab on May 08, 2008, 02:45:20 AM I had a Monster, then a ST3 and now an 07 Multi. The Multi is the best all-around bike. My wife loves it. Wer're both in our 40's and we can ride 300-400 miles a day with no problem. Oh yeah, easy power wheelies with the 1100!
Title: Re: thinking about a Multistrada Post by: alan on May 08, 2008, 03:35:39 AM I always thought the multistradas looked pretty sweet. Especially with the hard bags.
Now the ST series.... That's another story. :-X |
