Post by: CookieMonster on February 05, 2016, 09:46:47 AM If you just want to preserve it and display it I'd say remove the part off the bike and replace it. Otherwise, and I'm just trying to apply logic here, in order to have a clear coat not peel and look bad you may have to clean the part with mineral spirits and that may ruin the signature. I'm not a painter by any means so take my comment with a grain of salt.

The painter will have to use an adhesion promoter for plastics and most likely modify the gloss level of the clear to make it match the look of a plastic side panel.
