Title: How to preserve signature on Monster plastic panel?
Post by: TWDucfan on January 31, 2016, 09:15:00 AM
A famous person signed my Monster using oil based paint pen on one of the plastic panel. What is the best way to protect & preserve the signature?  [Dolph] [Dolph]

No, you can't slow one of those things down enough for somebody to sign it.

If you just want to preserve it and display it I'd say remove the part off the bike and replace it. Otherwise, and I'm just trying to apply logic here, in order to have a clear coat not peel and look bad you may have to clean the part with mineral spirits and that may ruin the signature. I'm not a painter by any means so take my comment with a grain of salt.

There are ways to clean plastic parts that won't damage the signature.

The painter will have to use an adhesion promoter for plastics and most likely modify the gloss level of the clear to make it match the look of a plastic side panel.

Taking it off and replacing with a plain one is definitely a cost effective option.

I still have the exact same problem. I want it displayed on the bike but just chose to run it with caution.
