If there is another way to get the content here please let me know.
I want to tap into this community for more knowledge and help, and will post more updates here in the near future. Nice to meet everyone and look forward to making some new friends! Peace! Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: ducpainter on February 09, 2016, 06:48:27 PM Welcome...
If you want to bring your content here, then do just that. You can post the info here and link to pics hosted on a photo hosting site. You haven't broken any rules, and your link won't be taken down unlike a link to our site over at that shithole...but asking many people here to look at content over there won't make you any friends, and as long as the kids don't break any rules with their comments I won't stop them either. If you're unaware...there's history... http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=20564.0 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=20564.0) Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: bshinn on February 10, 2016, 05:14:25 PM Not the most tech savvy soul, If you have any suggestions on how to get the content on here without the link, I'm all ears. Thanks Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: ducpainter on February 10, 2016, 05:30:57 PM Not the most tech savvy soul, If you have any suggestions on how to get the content on here without the link, I'm all ears. You'll need the URLs for them and then just stick that URL inside the proper tagging here.
Text- just cut an paste. ;D Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: Nekkid Tim on February 12, 2016, 10:20:46 AM Welcome... If you want to bring your content here, then do just that. Here's the link to the photobucket images: http://s1335.photobucket.com/user/bshinn66/library/Monster%20Restoration?sort=3&page=1 (http://s1335.photobucket.com/user/bshinn66/library/Monster%20Restoration?sort=3&page=1) Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: koko64 on February 29, 2016, 05:43:14 PM So you dropped in a 1000DS or 1100DS motor?
Painted/freshened up, suspension, nice clutch parts, wheels, etc. Any details of what you did? Nice work. Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: bshinn on March 01, 2016, 05:38:21 PM It's a 1KDS, and still on the bench waiting for an exhaust collector.
There is a thread on the site that shall not me mentioned here that was started over a year ago. I can't figure out how to get it here other than starting from scratch and I'm not willing to do that. If you search "new (to me) M620ie" you should find it. I'm treading a fine line here and trying to not piss anyone off as I know there is bad blood between the two sites. but I'm not willing to invest the hours needed to reproduce it here. If anyone has a line on an exhaust header for a DSS Monster 1000 please reach out. Again, if I have crossed any lines here it was unintentional. Peace! Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: koko64 on March 01, 2016, 06:35:38 PM No time for a quick list of mods over a cup of coffee? Was just interested in a mental list to refer to while I looked at your pics.
Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: bshinn on March 02, 2016, 09:49:39 AM I'll put something together over the next few days and post it. It's a pretty extensive list.

Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: bshinn on March 18, 2016, 12:07:48 PM I started out last January with what was essentially a bone stock 2003 M620ie. It had been lightly dropped and apparently bent the bars and dented the tank on the right side. The only things not stock to my knowledge were the slip-on’s (DanMoto), seat (Sargent), a 14T countershaft sprocket, and I think the bars.
Things changed to this point: • Airbox deleted (ghetto fab pod’s that will be replaced shortly with a TPO Beast setup) • Emissions canister delete using TPO’s RR relocation bracket and K&N filter • New All Ball’s tapered headset bearings • 43T Renthal rear sprocket & new o-ring chain • 749/999 Showa shock (gold valve in hand ready to install) • 748/916 Showa forks (gold valves ready to install) • Replaced the Sargent seat with OEM • SSR Carbon 916 front fender • 5mm aluminum carrier rotors (floated with TPO buttons) • 999 4P/4P front calipers • 1098 radial clutch & brake MC’s • Billet adjustable levers • Throttle tamer • New blueprinted injectors • Added OEM oil cooler with custom lines by Brown & Williamson • Ti rotor bolts • TPO Ti axle spacer • TPO Ti axle nut • S*R Upper triple • 1 1/8” Magura tapered handlebar • Carbon Ignition cover • Bitubo top-mount steering damper • TPO Ti engine mount bolts • Shori Lithium Battery • TPO Ti linkage pivot’s • SSR Carbon flyscreen • M1000Sie adjustable ride height rod • LED signals • Monster Parts carbon rear hugger • M1000Sie aluminum swingarm • FBF high mount pipes • Ducabike rearsets • TPO Ti rear axle nut • Desmo Times billet axle plates • NCR fuel cap • Integrated LED tail/TS • More Pro Bolt race spec stainless hardware than I care to think about • New 5mm wave rear rotor • 1” longer billet sidestand • Billet countershaft sprocket guard I have been waiting on a pair of Carrozzeria wheels since 7/15 that should finally be here in the next week or so. I have also been waiting on a set of AEM triples since 11/15. AEM sent the wrong ones from Italy twice, so the vendor has offered Speedymoto’s at no additional cost. They should be here in a few days as well. I will be ordering TPO’s 7078 front axle shortly and a few more items from SSR, TPO, & Pro Bolt as well. When all that’s installed and I can get an accurate weight on the bike Race Tech springs will be ordered and the fork & shock will be completely rebuilt/revalved. Once the chassis is sorted I have a 1000DS just about ready to slide into place. I still need to adjust the valves, and order a slave cylinder. I am having trouble finding a collector for it and the one on my 620 won’t work, so that problem has yet to be solved, might need to have something custom fabbe’d but trying to avoid that expense. This fall it will be torn down for the cosmetic work. Frame will be powder coated, and I’m leaning toward a Tricolore scheme but still sleeping on that decision. I'll upload a few images when I get home. PhotoBucket is blocked @ work. Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: bshinn on March 18, 2016, 12:21:40 PM Gamed the system:

If Ducati's published weight of 396 is accurate, it should be in the 360 range.
Interested on how much weight I will loose with the wheel swap. Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: koko64 on March 18, 2016, 12:57:28 PM Quite a diet and transformation [thumbsup]

If Ducati's published weight of 396 is accurate, it should be in the 360 range. Interested on how much weight I will loose with the wheel swap. Should be around 10lbs. Bike looks good although I'm a fan of low pipes on older monsters. Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: bshinn on March 18, 2016, 05:21:39 PM To each his own, but I doubt I drag these.

Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: bshinn on March 21, 2016, 04:49:53 PM I had some parts TiN coated. On first look everything looked good until I inspected the axle. The only part exposed to the elements (the inside) was UN-COATED. The owner it going to re-coat it, but I'm out the money to get it back to the west coast.
(http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w661/bshinn66/Monster%20Restoration/DSCN2735_zpsq91g2mgw.jpg) (http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w661/bshinn66/Monster%20Restoration/DSCN2744_zpsx6p3weex.jpg) Speedymoto triples are due here on Thursday according to UPS. Wheels should be here by the end of next week. Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: bshinn on March 21, 2016, 04:57:57 PM This past weekend was cold and wet in the Charlotte area, so I decided to rehab the throttle housing.
Before: (http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w661/bshinn66/Monster%20Restoration/DSCN2743_zpsphibbm0y.jpg) (http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w661/bshinn66/Monster%20Restoration/DSCN2742_zpsk6s93i7b.jpg) After: (http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w661/bshinn66/Monster%20Restoration/DSCN2747_zpsnrusdtpd.jpg) (http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w661/bshinn66/Monster%20Restoration/DSCN2746_zpscr1jwpq4.jpg) Used the same Colorite Ducati Magnesium Gold I used on the side covers. Not sure about the 2-tone look, but it looks better than before. The switchgear will be replaced shortly with Ducabike's switches for the Panagali that replace the MC clamp. Not sure about the left side, will likely suck it up and by new OEM. Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: bshinn on March 28, 2016, 05:45:27 PM Intended to delete about 15 images from my PB account, I now have them reloaded. Here's the link: http://s1335.photobucket.com/user/bshinn66/library/Monster%20Restoration?sort=3&page=1 (http://s1335.photobucket.com/user/bshinn66/library/Monster%20Restoration?sort=3&page=1)
The images are in no particular order, sorry. My triple finally showed up last week. (http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w661/bshinn66/Monster%20Restoration/DSCN2750_zpsd4bwzz85.jpg) It's a Speedymoto and the quality is excellent. The instructions however are non existent. The standard metric bolts are no problem, but the steering tube is threaded into the lower rather than pressed in, I would like to have a torque value for that. Also there are 2 brackets that I have no idea what they are uses for. At $1150 I expected a little more, but WTH, just nut up and deal with it. (http:// Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: bshinn on March 28, 2016, 06:09:31 PM But I am running a Bitubo top mount damper:
(http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w661/bshinn66/Monster%20Restoration/DSCN2205_zpsooib1n40.jpg) The Speedymoto risers are 20mm higher than stock to I can't use it without modification. The solution is reasonably simple. There is a 10mm spacer between the mount that attaches to the ignition and the damper itself. I ordered 2 more spacers from Bellissimoto that should solve the problem. My intention is to have the risers milled to cut as much off and lower them as i can. That appears to be about 8mm. i should the be able to just use one spacer. I didn't want any rise on the bars, but I had no choice. Here's where where it is now: (http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w661/bshinn66/Monster%20Restoration/DSCN2770_zpsdrtovzqr.jpg) (http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w661/bshinn66/Monster%20Restoration/DSCN2771_zpskpoqj006.jpg) (http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/w661/bshinn66/Monster%20Restoration/DSCN2772_zpsbstgdfdn.jpg) The wheels are due here by the end of the week. Hopefully I will be able to post images soon. Peace! Title: Re: Monster 620ie RestoMod Post by: koko64 on March 28, 2016, 06:47:08 PM Very nice. [thumbsup]
