I was surprised to find the cover doesn't just bolt straight on. Looks like I'm going to have to file the seat cover tabs down a tad.
Or am I missing something?
Also what are those small fold out bars on this seat?
i noticed the same think with mine.
i think that the DP gel seat is a little thicker all the way around the seam between the pillion and drivers seat.
it will fit, you just have to manhandle it a bit.
the little fold out hooks under the seat are to hook straps if you want to carry any kind of cargo on the pillion seat.

That's not so good. I need to be able to slip it off and on easily. File time.
Are you referring to the latching of it to the bike? If so, just add one or two flat washers under the latching mechanism to rasie it slightly and it will mount right up easy-peasy... the stock bolts are long enough, been there done that, got an easy fitting DP gel seat to prove it.
No no .. I did the washer thing already. I'm talking about the tabs on the plastic passenger seat cover being too big for this seat so that I can't line up the holes to screw it down. I would have thought being a Ducati-made seat there wouldn't be any modding required here.
I used a special tool the BMFH to tweak those metal tabs - kind of flattened the bends - and it works great now.
Ahhh, gotcha. I too had those issues with mine but it was more a case of just loosening the brackets to position the cowl over the seat fully (it was tight), then S L O W L Y tightening things back down and voila!!

Wanwo if Ducati made the accessory, you should immediately assume you will have to custom one-off it to make it fit.

ROFLMAO [laugh]
sad, but true
To follow up, I had to file down 3-4 mm each tab. It fits alright but I think I'll leave it off because, well, the DP is prettier than the stock seat.

These little hooks will also wear through the paint on your subframe. It did to mine. So make sure you put some tape over the paint to protect it.
and + 1 on loosening the brackets to make it fit. Just loosen them up and the cover should fit without using a file.
Good tip about the hooks. Thx.
I had the DP seat with my CP carbon cowl, and it fit like crap. When I did get it on, it tweaked the cowl enough that it was too narrow to fit around the passenger handles.
I sold that MFer.
Yeah I have that too. I have to bend the edges of the cover out to get them over the grab bars.
But overall the seat is a killer buy. I've just started using it. It feels wider. The gel is comfy. And because it's cut at the back rather than scooped you get a push along effect when you accelerate. I love that feeling. [thumbsup]
Mine fit okay. Stock cowl over the a$$ end of the DP Comfort seat. It's sitting on my workbench collecting dust though as I've fitted the DP Carbon Solo saddle now. /shrug

Mine was tight but I was able to squeeze it on. beware of toasted buns and eggs after that thing sits in the sun that is the only issue i have had with mine in 3 years.

How much do you want for it :)
Not only it fits very tight but my seat keeps on coming undone.
i place washers under the latch and still same problem,
i started looking for a cause, and i tought it was becouse of the tailchop (comp.werks) the turnsignal bracket might be high so i shaved them down and still same problem, now i noticed rub marks on the taillight maybe that is it,
i'm planning on lovering the light and see what happens.

How many washers did you try? My DP required 3 each side to stay put. I tried 4 but then the key was having trouble unlocking it, so three was perfect. I also have a Comp Werkes t/c. My tail light seems to be alright with it all.
i've got two under there
i might get away with just loosening the bolts on the light and droppe it a bit
