Title: M1100 mystery part?
Post by: mickb on February 20, 2016, 06:13:50 AM
Hi,
I've found what appears to be a small, trianagular rubber wedge, in the shape of a pie slice, about 1" in size, on my garage floor, which I suspect was on the bike. It has small ridges on the sides, which would probably hold it in place, anyone know what this might be?

cheers

Could it be one of the spacers between the fans of the engine casing?  Mine has them in some of the gaps but not all, suggesting they do fall out.  I assume they are dampness, not anything structural.

I don't think its one of those, as its triagular with e ridge half way along the middle, it looks more like it would slot between 2 frame members, maybe somewhere in the trellis?

Take a look at #14 on pages 136/138 in the parts catalog - could that be it?

Is this the right link, as it only has 106 pages:

In that catalog version it's page 88.

The full version is downloaded from Ducati.com > Dealers and services > maintenance

That looks like a cush-drive rubber from a 70's or 80's Japanese bike.

Depending on the size (since I don't have a reference), it also looks like a Ducati clutch cush-drive rubber but that would be only on a dry-clutch bike and only if you took the entire clutch apart.  They do NOT just fall out...

ok, may be onto something here. My (dry) clutch was just replaced, & the mechanic brought over the old parts, so it sounds like that's where it came from, thanks Duck :)

They're inside the clutch hub (there's an inner and outer hub and these separate them).
