Title: Ignitech tuning and post XP software.
Post by: koko64 on February 26, 2016, 06:21:06 PM
Went to give the ignition curve a tweak on a 944SS. Just discovered Windows 7 doesn't work with the Ignitech software. Does anyone know if there are new Ignitech disks compatible with Windows 7, 8.1 and 10?
Or is the problem with my serial port driver not working with later windows. A mate with excellent computer skills tried the software mimic solutions but that didnt work either.

Looks like I need to find my old XP software discs and install them on a stand alone lap top? Where is that box?

Anyone come across this?

I've had no issues using the IgniTech software on my Win7 laptop.

Likely it's the serial port stuff that's the problem.

There are different version numbers of the Ignitech boxes, not sure if you need to have matching or later versions of the software... the whole backward/forward compatibility thing.

I have the different software for each Ignition unit so hopefully it's only that my serial port connector driver software is too old for Windows 7 and 8.1. Rectifying that will be easy if thats the issue. Fingers crossed.

Worked out the issue. Its not the driver software. The 944 has an early model Ignitech unit which can only speak up to XP. It's a pre 75 unit by a model or two, so Jurassic. We are looking for an old laptop with XP which the owner will put aside.

Have you tried running it in  "XP Mode"?

Yeah one of the first things we tried. Didnt fool it unfortunately.  Customer is a computer guy so he will find a box of old laptops. I have a stand alone compact laptop in the workshop. Post XP didnt interface with the Jurassic software disc or download for that unit. Glad I now know the cause. [thumbsup]
