Title: Can't get the wheel not to break.
Post by: freeclimbmtb on March 08, 2016, 08:13:34 AM
I've never put it on this tight, it must have been the shop at the 15k service.  I have the tire ratchet strapped to a 2x4 to keep it from moving and a 4 foot pipe on the breaker bar and it still won't pop.  I'm afraid something is going to break.

I haven't tried heat yet, but I am a little leery putting flame that close to the powder coated wheel...

Help?

Have you tried some type of penetrating lube like liquid wrench or PB Blaster?

Impact wrench.
+1
It makes it soooo much easier. Inexpensive one from the hardware store or harbor freight will do. If you don't have a compressor that has the output you can get an electric one.

Yep I use a cheap Chinese electric impact wrench bought of eBay and it works great, you need the hammer effect to get it to break loose.
