A local guy has a set of adjustable Showa forks from a 2005 "Monster 1000s". Are these the same size as my M695, and would I need new calipers and rotors to fit these? Same length as M695 forks?
Thanks
Check his and yours for length. I think they are the same or close enough, but someone else or you will have to confirm.
Diameters and brake caliper fitment are equal.
Nice upgrade and open for all levels of modification (should the mod bug hit hard enough).
Measure from bottom of lower triple to center of axle on your forks with the front end not supporting any weight.
Install the adjustable forks at that same position.
Been reading a bit more - don't the forks on a 2005 Monster 1000DS use 4-piston calipers and 320 mm rotors?
If so, are there adjustable Showa forks that use the stock M695 calipers and 300mm rotors?
Thanks
The caliper mount positions are exactly the same for the 695 brakes and M1000.

if you that way, you would have to "transplant" the 65-40 adapter to your 695 in order to use your OEM brake set up or just get the 4 pot calipers and a set of 320mm rotors
Sorry guys, but it seems I got conflicting answers. ???
Would I or would I not have to get new calipers and 320 mm rotors to use these forks on my M695?
Or just an adapter for my calipers?
Thanks again

you can swap your brake set up to the forks or get new calipers/rotors . . .
Here are a few pics of my M620 with OEM brake set up, as your M695 and after with brake upgrade to 4pot/320mm
Before, OEM 2pot calipers and 300mm rotors, you can see the adapter for the calipers:

After, 4pot calipers and 320mm rotors, same OEM Marzocchi forks[same applies for Showa], NO adapter for calipers:

As far as I know, all that matters is the caliper mounting bolt spacing. You should be good with that vintage (2005) and be able to swap over your existing calipers and wheels/rotors no problem. It's the caliper and wheel that dictate the rotor size and offset, not the forks. For my M695, I upgraded the fork internals (Matris) and calipers/rotors (4-pot, 4-pad). Huge difference. Suspension first...

No, you don't need new calipers or rotors.
No
new adapter required - you already have them on your 695.
:P I get it now - the floating mounts on the 2-pot calipers position the calipers for 300mm rotors, or If you bolt on the 4-pots (no mount brackets), they'll line up with the 320s. I'm about to see, because I just won the auction - and apparently these are take-offs with only a few hundred miles on them. $240 seems good, no?
Thanks to all
Alan
You will feel the difference. [thumbsup]
