Title: Speedometer pickup on M796
Post by: Charlie98 on March 17, 2016, 07:35:21 AM
I'm going to change out the front sprocket on my '13 M796 to a 14T...

Question:  Where is the speedometer pickup on the Monster?  If it's the front wheel, it won't be a problem, if it's off the motor/transmission, is there a reasonable way to correct it?

Should be on the rear brake disc.

No speedo-healers necessary.

Yep. Unless they did something odd there, Ducati has been using a Hall Effect sensor to read off the rear wheel (rotor) for more than a decade.

I don't know why some bikes do the computed speed that any final drive change will make the beast with two backs up... it's such a silly system

And that's why I axe, my CBR actually read off the front sprocket bolt of all things.

Groovy...
