1st FP at Qatar is usually sweeping a lot of crap off the circuit.

We'll see if FP2 continues like FP1.

The only surprise is Rossi 2nd spot. It shows how much better the Yamaha is over the others. It also shows how shitty the Honda is right now.

Really looking forward to this. I really like how it's all up in the air with all the changes.

Be interesting the winglets effect on slipstreaming. Might help create a Ducati lane just like the old Honda lane in the past.

Cut another 7 tenths off of it in FP3, and still the top dog.

And 350 kmh is hauling ass.

Damn Ducati's are fast! Top speed 10+Km/h over the rest of the crowd  [coffee]
Last year they started very well in the first races, but then had less results than one would have hoped by looking at the start of the season.

I'm trying to be excited about tomorrow's race. But anytime JLo is on ththe top step, I get a bit irritated.

We will see how it goes tomorrow.

My predictions..

1. JLo
2. Iannone
3. Rossi

MM crashes out.

Didn't take long. It's gonna be a great season. And then there's MM and Rossi, and throw in Maverick and Crazy Andrew. Nutcase Andy seems like a top guy until you get him angry. ;D
So if Vinales is Maverick, then Lorenzo would be Iceman.

He's 'Charlie'

Maverick: Jesus Christ, and you think I'm reckless? When I [ride], I'll have you know that my crew and my [bike] come first.
Charlie: Well, I am going to finish my sentence... My review of your [qualifying] performance was right on.
Maverick: Is that right?
Charlie: That is right, but I held something back. I see some real genius in your [riding], Maverick, but I can't say that in there. I was afraid that everyone in the [Dorna office] would see right through me, and I just don't want anyone to know that I've fallen for you.

They should have followed each other to make a break then have at it. They played right into JLos hands.

The top speed advantage on the straight was outrageous. [evil]

Regardless, this's the most excited I've been about a MotoGP season since Rossi was on a Duc.

Not the most exciting race. I gotta be honest, I was hoping for things to be a bit more mixed up than that.

But good first race of the season  [beer]

Ha, Lorenzo just gave the 'lips sealed' sign.  [clap]

He just threw the crowd that was booing, the 'up your make the beast with two backsing ass' sign.  :D

Any idea who in the crowd was booing JLo. I mean that was a masterful display by the champion.

Yeah, a few haters here. ;)

I mean to boo a champion in such close proximity. Must have been Rossi fanboys I guess.

Bad luck for the Maniac, I think he lost it on the white paint/rumble strip, poor guy but he was pushing it to the limit, the way those dukes smoked JLo on the first straight was nothing short of amazing but I wonder why they couldn't do the same every lap. Fuel consumption/preservation perhaps?

[bang] I really wanted to see Rossi on that podium but I'm glad he finished upright and .1 sec off the from 3rd

Need to re-watch.

I think everyone's a bit unsure about tires for race distance, and what they can do about it with the electronics.

Seemed to be several threats of action a couple times, that then fizzled.

I hadn't noticed before the two Ducs have different wing setups. (?) Or were they both different from the beginning?

I think it's some sort of lottery, what each rider has to try with the wings.
rossi seems to do well in the no-wings lottery.
 [laugh]

They still don't seem to have a clear cut answer on whether it works or not.

The Ducs may have been having rear wheel spin issues, so they couldn't get the drive off of the final corner?
Dunno.
They certainly caned JLo those first two laps.

This ^^ Once they settled into a groove I think they decided that the first race after changing electronics and tires would not be the best time to be hyper aggressive. Even the bull in the china shop (MM) seemed to be more subdued.

Snoozefest!

I think Iannone was the only one that could have gotten into J-Lo head.

That was awesome watching the Ducs blow the doors off of the Yamaha.

Next race!

Even though there wasn't a bunch of passing, the top 4 were close enough to keep me entertained.

I would have preferred a shit ton of passing for sure, but this wasn't too bad in my book.

Until he got the white line fever, I thought he was doing pretty well (except for the overtake on Dovi, aggressive first race pass on your teammate was uncalled for)

He wasn't going to win the race on the 6th lap...right?

Maybe he was.....
If he broke away and had a 15 second gap on JLo....

I just hope him throwing his hands in the air after binning it was at himself.....

Indeed, a close pack like that is promising.  :)

I think the race was the first time they rode after the Moto2 pack really laid a lot of Dunlop rubber down.

There was something about one of Lorenzo's tires being totally used up?
Didn't see his front, but the rear looked really good in Parc Ferme.

Heard a rumor about Stoner racing in Argentina.

That rumor was squashed very quickly. there's no reason for Stoner to replace a satellite rider on a track he has never raced on.

There was discussion from both MM and Dovi that they pretty much ate up the tire. Understandable considering the power of both the Honda and the Duc.

Iannone's still had plenty of life left in it at the end of the race though.
