I'm looking at the aluminum dss from an '03 M800s for my 695 and know that I'd need the rear axle and chain adjusters as well.
But will the 695 swingarm pivot and pinch bolts fit, and what about the brake caliper hanger? Anything I'm overlooking to do the swap?
Thanks
should be plug n play . .. proly you'll have to get a different chain slider for top and bottom of SA and a rear hugger, they are different
Pivot shaft could be a touch shorter. Check the parts books to see if they are the same part number between the steel & aluminum arms.
Should be fine on the chain sliders, M800 is same 4.5" wheel as 695.
Your existing caliper hanger is fine.
An update:
This turned out well - got the complete M800s swingarm for $140 including shipping. The 800 axle is a bit longer to fit the wider box section of the aluminum arm, but the pivot is about 3-4 mm shorter. My 695 pivot shaft was nicer, so to use it, I added a 1.5 mm shim/washer under the snap ring on each side. This left about a mm of end play, but I figured this was ok. The pivot pinch bolts are different - the aluminum arm bolts use special wedge shaped nuts that tighten directly onto the pivot shaft. The chain sliders are different, and of course the aluminum arm is almost three pounds lighter. I like the look - it matches the silver forks at the front.
Pics or it didn't happen. ;)
Pics there will be. This swingarm swap was part of a larger job that includes a 749 shock, mosfet regulator, coil relocate, and more. I'll put them at accessories and mods. :-*
