Post by: duccarlos on March 31, 2016, 08:55:01 AM
This is basically the only race where Yonni Hernandez will be prominently featured.

New territory with the new rules, so hope it levels things. Got high hopes for Mad Andy and Top Gun.

Apparently a dusty track is scrambling the timesheets; look at the shifts from FP1 to FP2 (except for Lorenzo, who remains mired in the last half of the times)

Interesting results so far.

Giggest surprise so far is how Miller went both sessions. Top Satellite 2nd session and ahead of Crusty surprises me...( even with his FP1 crash)

Looks like the fitness work is paying off. If it is a wet race as predicted will be interesting...

Maybe this year Miller will be able to show the promise HRC believes he has.

After the qualifying results my hopes of a new order were dashed a bit. Nutcase Andy better stay on this time.
I'm not getting up at 4.30am to watch this one. Took me a week to recover last time, so I'll watch the replay. The Euro rounds play live here at about 9.30-10.30pm which is very civilized. [wine]

Hmmmm...maybe it's raining and the practice was moot because they won't be using slicks anyway.

Confirmed...wet in Argentina.

Unbelievable. Even with dry race, you are forced to a tire change at mid race, and race is shortened to 20 laps.
We want the Bridgestone back!!!  [thumbsdown]

I just hope race direction gives him a penalty he'll remember as opposed to a couple of points. He almost did the same thing in Qatar.

Yes he's fast, but he'll be long gone from Ducati before he has enough smarts to be a true asset to the team. They're better off with Dovi.

He needs to be sat down for a while.

Dovi would be a better teammate for Lorenzo. After this race, Lorenzo would be smart to call Audi, accept the contract and demand they get rid of Iannone. Fast make the beast with two backs gets you only so far in MotoGP. I really had great hopes for him this year.

I still don't think Lorenzo is the best thing for Ducati. I know most will disagree, but You'reghey is a headcase. Everything needs to be perfect or he's useless, and let's face it...the Duc is far from perfect. Look at what happened to him today today. Changes before the race with tires and procedure and he couldn't handle it.

Maybe in a couple of years, but not yet.

Believe me, I don't like the idea of Jorghey in Ducati, but he's the best option right now. I personally think the bike can compete, with an Alien on it.

I cant wait to see the comments from both camps and the Unibrow on the race (if he has any). Crazy Joe's win it or bin it philosophy is costing him, his teammate and the company. Someone needs to tell Crazy Joe, it's a marathon not a race. Binning it in the first two races when Ducati could have two riders in the hurt should be a wake up call to him. Marquez learned so there's hope for Crazy Joe I hope..

I just hope race direction gives him a penalty he'll remember as opposed to a couple of points. He almost did the same thing in Qatar.

3 place grid penalty for COTA, and 1 point.

All I gotta say is you gotta finish the race upright on 2 wheels to score points (unless you're Dovi and finish on 2 wheels and 2 legs) sometimes you have to hold back and avoid the risk, it's not like the season ends next week and they were fighting for the lead in points. My 2 cents

Hooray for Vale! 2nd in the points and 8 behind MM

I'm a bit calmer today, but it seems that Iannone wants to prove something early in the year. Most likely because he knows that when they get back to Europe, Honda and Yamaha will leave Ducati in the dust. If HRC is still struggling the Duc boys might have a chance to win at Austin. Iannone wants to be the first winner on a Duc since Stoner, the problem is he's willing to take out his teammate to accomplish it.

Ok, now that a little time has passed I can compose my thoughts.

That was make the beast with two backsed up!  But it's not the first time a rider was taken down by his teammate.  It's not like it was the race to determine the championship......

Not justifying what Iannone did but I think he's a faster rider than Dovi.  Dovi is not the alien everyone is looking for.  I think he was holding Iannone back.  That's the one good thing Dovi is good at, not letting riders pass him.

What is it with Dovi and his teammates?  Remember when he and Nicky were trading paint on the last lap and jumped a curb.

Imagine that, a young aggressive rider?  Never seen that before.

Iannone makes racing interesting!  Unless you want to watch J-Lo turn laps?

Speaking of J-Lo, he should fall more often.  That race was interesting to watch!

ducpainter is right, there's no way J-Lo can ride the duc.  Too many variables and J-Lo is too sensitive.  Yesterdays race is a good example.

Rossi wasn't doing much better on his second bike. He didn't crash, but he was going backwards and was on the edge when fighting with Vinales especially. The Ducs passed him pretty easily since he was going wide on practically every lap.

Agreed with every point you hit

The Maniac is a more aggressive rider than Dovi where Dovi is more willing to settle than put up a fight.

This weekend showed how curve balls really affect JLo, the tarmac is too bumpy, there's wet patches all over the place, you want me to do another WUP lap??I can't use that rear tire? We have to swap bikes? Fried microchip self destruction in 60 seconds down I go

Makes me wish Iannone would go ahead and injure his shoulder again so he tames the aggression for fear of aggravating the injury.

That being said, exciting race. Wish we could have seen MM/VR duke it out on their main bikes... would have been somethign special. How much did Rabat in the way affect the gap when they came back in? I thought he was a backmarker at first that wasn't getting a blue flag till I saw that he just didnt pit till the last second.

The timing was unfortunate for rossi, but I think his #2 bike setup/tire issue was the real killer.
If the equipment had been spot-on, he would have gotten by Rabat without drama.

Oh, props to Rabat for bringin' it home.  [beer]

Iannone and Dovi likely have another thing to think about...JLo. If Ducati signs him, then one of them is out of a job. Could be why Iannone has been so aggressive in the 1st two races. Dovi is already the established #1 rider in the team.

I don't think Rossi's second bike was all that bad...look at the lap times between the two. What is clear is MM was more comfortable on his 2nd bike though. He also seemed more determined...he was riding the wheels off of that thing. He earmed that win.

Very disappointed for Vinales.

Except I think VR will be soundly beaten by whichever team mate they choose. Especially if it is Vinales.

I wouldn't expect a resounding beating, not at first. I would expect that Rossi actually try to develop him as his successor. I think Vale probably realizes he's not the fastest guy out there and Yamaha would appreciate him helping out getting someone that can consistently beat MM ready to take over.
