As the title would suggest, Alan and I are heading out to Muenster and the Red River on Saturday April 16th. We'll stop in Muenster for lunch. Planning on leaving from Dallas around 10 a.m. or so (pretty flexible on that aspect of it).
Post up if you can join us [Dolph] Spring has sprung!
I'll most likely be in. If you can believe this, I have NEVER made the full Muenster run!! I went with you guys for a small part of it a few years ago, but I bailed in Decatur as I couldn't do the whole day.

I'm "with" Mark.....better?

Well that will be cool. I would have failed that test; thought for sure you've been on the whole ride before.
Add me to the "definitely maybe" list. Current barometer shows a 90% chance of vroooom. [Dolph] [thumbsup]
well it's about f......n time. now what did you choose?

Hah! I went with a brand-spankin'-new 16' Multistrada S Touring/Urban (
red of course). Picked her up last Friday and gave her a good flogging over the weekend (600 mile service time). ;D This bike is phenomenal!!
I'm in the process of putting together a tablet-based gps setup and plan to do full termi's in a month or two.
Looking into alternate windscreens for longer trips as well. The stock one isn't too bad, but I'm tall and could use some extra coverage. Did you stick with the stock screen on yours?
Very nice choice although I'm partial. I was looking at the termi set up as well but for that price I passed, MIIV and SC Project now have a full exhaust available for a third of the price.
My screen is the Puig racing but I do have the stock screen I'll put on for longer trips. So are you making the Muenster ride?

I'm afraid if I test ride a Multi... I'll be trying to trade in my Monster. [bang]

Looking forward to seeing the Puig racing screen on your ride. Definitely planning on Muenster but you know how things go; can't commit 100% until the day before.

Just remember how much cooler you look on the Monster. The only think I can fault the MTS for so far is the dweeb factor of the seating position. Thankfully I'm a middle-aged guy now so, when in Rome! [laugh]

Well... I put Heli Bars on my CBR1000F so I could set upright, and my other (current) bike is an XR650. I like setting up. I'm an old guy now... ;D
The comfort factor on the Multi is great! Also, I think you're head is probably about the same height off the ground as drivers in SUVs or trucks so your ability to see farther down the road is greatly improved. Add to that rearview mirrors that are huge and the riding experience in heavy traffic is automatically just that much less stressful. Oh, and the ridiculous amounts of torque to get yourself out of the way of trouble is just a hoot.
Great bike, those Multis. And congrats on your purchase, dallas2r [clap]
Fingers crossed on this Spring weather carrying through to next weekend… it was 69 degrees yesterday on the way home.
So, are we all ready for Saturday weather permitting?
Well the weather looks abysmal and if yesterday was any indication it's looking rough for Saturday. Post up if you're coming.

Abysmal gets you the .25 cent word of the day prize.
Send a stamped self addressed envelope to the forum to claim your prize. ;D
Easy. Baby steps 'round here… [coffee]
Anyway, weekend weather looks crap. Maybe the rain chances will change by then but if the weather isn't going to cooperate, we'll just re-schedule.
Alan and I rode the route Saturday. The bad news is there are two areas of construction that really screw things up. One is a temporary bridge made from railroad ties with loose rock ramps leading up from the regular road surface to the "bridge," and the other area is a two mile stretch of big gravel. The bridge is do-able but the loose gravel requires a route change.
Just FYI.

Ha, I'll see if they take credit cards [cheeky]
The bridge as in The red river?
I refuse to believe weather will derail this ride. This is Texas after all, and when have we ever completely trusted the weatherman?
Yea, I really hope we can pull this off. It's been way too long since we had a good group ride.
But as far as the bridge that is "under destruction construction," it's a small bridge - about fifty feet in length - as you come back from the Red River and into Saint Jo. Can't recall the name of the road but it is a normal part of the Muenster loop. We've all been on this road before. It's the road that eventually snakes up the side of the big hill right before you get into Saint Jo.
People on Multis will have no issues what so ever. Other people *ahem* will need to be… brave [laugh]
So, do whatever it is y'all do to not make it rain on Saturday! Beginning… NOW!
Also, we stopped at Doc's for lunch. Doing a booming business. Their beer garden and up stairs room are available if we need more than a couple of tables.
Which reminds me - where do we want to meet?
Post up if you think you can make this ride because that will determine where we meet.
I'm in depending on the obvious rain factor.
Mark
Looks like we are a "GO" on this. Whose in?
OK, very cool. Looks like most of our riders are on the northeast side of the metromess, so considering the planned ride route, I say we meet at the usual QT on Main Street in Frisco at 9:30. We'll leave from there around 10 so any stragglers won't have to feel like they've got to push it. We'll save that for later…
Anyway, Alan and I are in. Sounds like Muskrat and Mrs. Muskrat, and Dallas2r are probably in, plus Mhanis. So that's a nice solid group for a ride of this nature; it's an all-day extravaganza - about 250 miles - but it's always fun. Looking forward to catching up with everyone over a brats platter in the beer garden at Doc's in Muenster.
So, Readers Digest version:
Saturday, April 16, QT gas Station on Main Street and the North Dallas Tollway in Firsco, 9:30 am. KSU at 10. See you there! [Dolph]
The Mrs won't be on this ride, no backrest yet and we'd leave her behind if she comes on her bike. I'm already in trouble and don't wanna give her more ammo. :P
WFAA weather report has tomorrow's rain chances between 30 and 50 percent :o So, game day decision, I'd say.
I'll post tomorrow morning around 8:30 if the ride is a [thumbsup] or [thumbsdown]
Count me in, but I won't be on my new steed. :-\ I took her in for the 600 mile service and a steering lock error requires a new hands-free unit which won't be in until next week. [bang] Keeping my fingers crossed that the gremlins will be few and far between after this. [bow_down]
weather is looking rough [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang]
I guess we will all be up early to see what Cher posts. [beer]
I guess this local storm thing is going to really blow up over night because all the rain on the weather station radars now shows up only in the northern part of the panhandle [roll]
So unless it's just nasty weather in the morning, I say we do this ride and just be prepared to call it a day early if the weather starts to become threatening in the afternoon.
[Dolph]
Yeah we will have to see what it's like in the am.
Weather forecast NOW says 20% chance of light rain in the afternoon, so
Let's ride [thumbsup]
I'll be there.
Mark
radar shows showers moving from the South right into our path so it's a hit and miss but I'll chance it.

Looks like that band is starting to diminish. About to head out. See ya' at the QT (not "on the QT" [laugh])
We're on our way.
Thanks for a great day today folks!
Mark
Fun times indeed. Good to see everybody again and look forward to more shenanigans. [Dolph] [thumbsup]
Yep, we had a good time too and really enjoyed having lunch with you guys at Doc's. Can't believe we didn't get soaked - looked like the rain was all around us :o
I really wish we could do more of these kinds of day rides before it get s too hot; good times for sure. And +1 for DallaS2R getting a Multi. The more the merrier! (Unless you're a random herd of black cows wandering across the road and then fuhgettabout it …No farm animals. You've GOT to draw the line somewhere. I mean we are *elitist* Ducati riders after all) [roll]
