Title: 620 & 400 Engine Compatibility?
Post by: MonsterMadMarty on April 05, 2016, 09:08:58 PM
Hi All,

Help needed, a group of University guys have approached me for sponsorship on a Formula SAE car they are building.  They are casting their own block and basing it on a Monster 620 engine they have, it will be slightly de-stroked to comply with displacement regulations.

They have one complete motor (engine # ZDM620A*012385) but need two more for spares, all they require is the gearbox, crank & heads.

I can get my hands on case damaged 2002 & 2003 400 engines, that if compatible I'd be willing to donate to the project. Before I go a head and buy these motors I'd just like advise from the brains trust if the 400 parts mentioned above will be compatible with the 620 parts?

Cheers in advance  [thumbsup]

400 crank and heads are different from 620.

If those two 400 motors are 5-speed, I think the transmissions would interchange with the 620 stuff no issue.

But.

Some 620 were 6-speed.
And you're way over on the other side of the world.

400 and 620 rods are the same.

400 and 620 transmissions are the same.
