Title: '98 Monster 900 rearsets
Post by: dsmdylan on May 23, 2016, 11:31:25 AM
Hey guys! I recently picked up a '98 M900 and am looking for some adjustable rearsets as my legs are rather long and the stock configuration makes upshifting pretty difficult. I've done a lot of googling and found a bunch of different options but most of them either seem to be defunct or the information is too conflicting for me to be comfortable pulling the trigger. For example, I've seen that 1999 models use the same fitment as 1998 models or rearsets made for the 900 SS also fit the M900 but the manufacturers say otherwise. It seems like the only definitive options are Ducabike and Rizoma. I don't really want to spend $700+ on a pair of rearsets so Rizoma is out. I'd also like to be able to have passenger pegs. I think the only relevant modification is the Leo Vince hi-mount pipes. I understand the solution may not necessarily be completely plug-n-play and I'm fine with that. I'm comfortable with just about any labor short of completely fabricating my own rearsets.

Here's a picture of my bike: http://i.imgur.com/ZcprteZ.jpg (http://i.imgur.com/ZcprteZ.jpg)

Was hoping to get some up to date info here. TIA!

Nice, thanks!

I already looked at Danmoto but for some reason I could only find their 99+ 900SS rearsets. They don't have passenger pegs but they look like exact replicas of the Rizomas so I'm guessing, worst case, I could use the real Rizoma passenger pegs.

I'm okay with lifting my legs as long as they're also going back and, more importantly, the shifters are moving down.

Has anyone used the Flyhammers? Looks like they're only available direct from Italy but they look pretty solid and include the passenger pegs for less than the Rizomas cost for just the driver pegs.

if so, the Ducabike is the way to go . . . give Jeff a call at Monsterparts . . .

edit:
sorry, you do have the low mount exhaust, right? If so, Ducabike might NOT be the way to go, try the Gecko, another member tried them on his 821 and loves them

I have hi-mount, see the picture. I do want passenger pegs though and Ducabike do not offer a solution for this as far as I know.

having issues opening some links . . .

If so, Ducabike are very good, FHE and as said, Gecko seem to be also good . . .

and if you want to go cheap, the Danmoto for less than $200 seem to be very adjustable . .  try my link to see them . ..

The Flyhammer, both rider and passenger, are hanging by the two welded tabs on the frame... not supported to the engine cases... like they 'should'...

Not sure I'd trust them  :-\

That's the way SS and SBK rearsets mount. They hold up fine. ;)

hmmm.. the load direction is different and on SS/SBK, passenger (and exhaust) isn't included.

Haven't seen a set for sale in almost 2 years. At least on eBay and that's checking everyday.

I have Ducabikes and even when I was north of 100kg they worked fine and I see NO wear, apart from regular/normal wear on them or mounting screws . . . Due to my accident I cannot ride, I cannot bend my rh leg enough to sit properly/comfortably on the bike, but, once I can do it, I'll ride the hell out the bike, once I overhaul the engine ;D

I overhauled my engine - it did nothing for my injuries or my weight  [laugh]

Not aware of any but I sent them an email to find out. I like these the best too for low-mount exhaust since they still give pillion capability.

Per Giuseppe, "we don't have any dealer in USA, we sell & ship directly to final customers"

Thanks everyone, I ordered the Danmotos. I realized the reason I didn't see them is because I was looking at the USA site and the model I need is apparently only available on the International site, which I assume means it ships from China. I'll update the thread with pics once I receive them and get them installed!
