I remember (fuzzily) seeing a thing that looked like a battery terminal wire brush for a car, but came in various sizes. What the hell would such a thing be called?
I need it to clean the exposed threads of the studs on the 749R salt bike.
this?

I have one of those. I don't think it will fit in the recess the 4v heads have.
The thing I think exists is just the ring part.
OK . . .
any of the following:

This must have been the thing I saw:

Still too tall. Cut it up, and the inside is a rubbery strip with fine "U" shaped wires stuck through it held in a circle by the plastic housing. Still didn't quite fit. Need to cut the strip in half lengthwise and cover the back with a duct-tape housing/handle to use it (otherwise the wires just get pushed out of the rubbery bit).

I originally replied with a female brush cleaner, thought he was confused.
This is a breech plug thread cleaner. This is what I originally said he needed..
I thought he was cnfused, so I just replied with the opposite of that.
A breech plug thread cleaner is a female part that cleans a male part.

I didn't know what it was, so I googled it. The thing you posted didn't show on my home computer, just this:
