Title: 98 M900 vent boxes and pipes
Post by: clive68 on June 02, 2016, 12:44:39 AM
Good morning all was wondering what the vent boxes
(ugly plastic boxes mounted to each side of the frame and hooked into each carburettor)do? and can i remove them? and what to do with the relevant rubber pipes? looks like there is a valve attached to each pipe. Thank you. Clive

Provides still calm air. If you want to remove them you need to route the hoses to a place that has some protection from turbulent air. I routed mine behind the airbox.
Sponsor MotoWheels sells a kit iirc. TPO does also.

Never tried without them but I would run them. Imo they also have a baffle effect. Dont forget the third breather line from between the carbs. If you run pod filters you have to find a spot to shelter the hose end. With an airbox I turn the T piece back towards the rear of the bike.
